In fact thinking about it some more, the Bure would have to be dredged too, or the slower moving water would 'back up' the faster moving water from Potter.

I see, so all of the river above and below the bridge down to Thurne Mouth, at least, would need to be dredged to allow the water to 'escape'.

Re dredging, probably a silly question, but wouldn't dredging only affect the depth of water and not the bridge clearance?  I understand that the rate of flow might be quicker after dredging (in both tidal directions) but the max and min heights would still be the same.  If boats were grounding on their way through, then I see how dredging would help.

 Finningley village... that brings back memories, as a young airman, I did my training there in 1977!  Used to go to the, Ahem, 'Eagle and Child' for Sunday afternoon sessions, although we knew it  by another name .

Everytime we go to the Broads, I look out my copy of 'What to do on the Norfolk Broads'.  To think we used to get a new one each year and throw the old ones away!  I've just seen the prices of them on ebay

We had 2 weeks on a Silverline Marine boat in summer 2016, a great holiday, but my, how times have changed, the south broads was so quiet, I guess that's down to the big super boatyards in the north.

now living in Oz, expat from the UK, used to go to the Broads every year for at least a week.  Fond memories of Hearts Cruisers @ Thorpe St Andrew, know just enough to moor into the tide and not get stuck under bridges and any holiday back to the UK has to include at least 2 weeks afloat.
