  1. Hi all,

If anyone is at Oulton Broad on a Wednesday afternoon, we can highly recommend this band- Liquorice!

They’re at the Waveney pub every Wednesday afternoon from 2-5pm.

They’re a very talented band who play lots of classic tunes from the 50s- 80s as well as a bit of larking about, with some great family members joining in with their act!

We’ve been going to see them for two years now and they do a different show each week.

Lots of funny jokes, friendly banter and superb songs, which get people up dancing all the time.

Although it says designed for Seniors, I’m 43 and I love them 😌

The Waveney is dog-friendly, too 🙂

Good idea but probably better to send an email as it could be forwarded on easier.

There are at least a couple of us moored at BGM and although I'm not familiar with Sharon Rose, one of us will find them in due course if an email fails.

    Thank you, good idea! 😊

  3. Hi all,

    Can anyone help me please?

A few weeks ago at Loddon, we met a lovely crew (Chas and Jeff?) on “Sharon Rose”,  a Bounty traveller 34. They moor at Brundall Gardens I believe.

We had a lovely chat but I never got their phone number! Their oven is the same as ours and when they change theirs we’d like to buy it for spares etc.

If anyone knows them, or they’re on here, can you please forward this message or my number?

    My number is 07816 117918

    thank you!

Katie and I have just returned from a glorious day afloat , God we have missed The Broads !!!

We arrived this morning ,09:30, at the wet shed after a quick clean and the usual thorough checks we went for a short cruise to Gays Staithe , the rivers (well the upper Ant) were very quiet only encountered two other boats underway.

Clear sky’s , accompanied with glorious sunshine meant we spent a wonderful few hours there , there was two other boats moored there.

Sitting outside eating crab sandwiches in the Norfolk sunshine was heaven , can’t wait till we are permitted to stay overnight , hopefully won’t be in the too distant future

  5. Thank you Poppy! How could we have been so stupid!
I was always suspicious of them but Steve insisted they were ok.

Thank goodness we never had a claim.

I wish I’d done more research.

I was right to be suspicious.

  6. Hello all,

Just wanted to say hi, and hope you’re all ok through this awful crisis.

Steve and I have an Alpha 35 who we love dearly. We’ve had her for 5 and a half years and can’t wait to get back on her when we’re all allowed out again.

Steve is an experienced Norfolk (and Suffolk) broads boater (60+years) and there isn’t an inch of the place he doesn’t know.

We love the friendly atmosphere everywhere we go and I’m always trying to help others moor up when they’re struggling. (Steve named me harbour master once at Ranworth because I was trying to help everyone fit in where there were spaces!) :-D

I’m looking forward to meeting people on here and out and about.

    Stay safe all :-)

  7. Hi all,

I hope you are well during this crisis and chaos!

    Adjustments.JPG

We have been with the above companies for 5 years, with no problems.

We have just been notified that Northern Reef have ceased trading! (See pic)

Is anyone here insured through the same company?

Or has anyone else had a similar problem?

There’ve been some good suggestions as to who to go through for boat insurance but I don’t see why would should have to pay any more than we already have.

If anything, we’d like a refund, so we can start looking again from the beginning, but I know that may be far-fetched.

Just looking to see if anyone else has been affected by the same thing.

    TY in advance :-)

  8. Thank you all for your advice here- we’ve naively been with Northern reef (through Edward William brokers) every year for 5 years.

I wasn’t happy about them but my husband insisted we should keep renewing with them each year.

We’ve just been advised that Northern Reef has ceased trading so we’re a bit lost at the moment as to where to go now!

This advice on here has been invaluable!
