  1. Hi all, I had a few people message me things about future flood planning options from the government. I was very disappointed to see one option of letting the broads take the brunt of it all and being done with it.

Anyone know of any further information on this subject? We need to save the broads, already lost a lot of them from being sold off privately, un cared for and now un navigable or just blocked off. We are loosing more and more beautiful water ways.

on the other hand, if tolls keep going up like they have been, then I’m sure these problems can be resolved. 🙄

    Thanks guys

I can’t say enough how great full I am for your help in this puzzle. Thank you Patchett for posting, and for all your time sharing those wonderful pictures.

CrestaDonna was the last of the wooden fleet and she is in very good order still today thanks to my dad who originally restored her. She will provide many more happy memories and more photos to come.

Thanks again Patchett I’m sure many people will really appreciate your post and link :)

In case anyone is interested in some photos of Martham Ferry Boatyard and the different boats in the 1960-80s, I have uploaded some here on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/194041782@N06/albums

The quality is not great since they are scans and some of these photos are almost 60 years old, but at least it gives an impression and helps some of us recall fond memories.

I will continue to add more info and photos as and when I discover them.

My last comment referring to this post :)   DEFINITELY WORTH A LOOK!

  4. I have so many questions I don’t know where to start. Firstly I would like to restore as much as possible to original build. Were the sails just plain white? Any markings? Need new ones but want to get them as close to original as possible. Don’t have any spare ones kindling around do you? Haha

  5. That’s fantastic to hear, someone with some information. I have many stories concerning Cresta Donna. She was my dads pride and joy and now me and my brother are getting her back up to scratch. My email is kitch22@me.com and pictures would be very much appreciated. I was also sad to hear of so many Cresta’s being chopped up.

  6. Hi all, I came across this forum whilst researching on my dads old pride and joy. I’ve grown up loving the broads and have spent many days growing up and enjoying it. My grandfather and dad have always had boats, me and my brother have always messed about in dinghys and many other people I know have had boats but sadly as time goes by there are less and less people and less private boats. This forum seems a very good broads community builder.
