I'm sure I can't be alone in finding a certain beauty in Cantley by night! 🙂

Not at all, I have always extolled the delights of Cantley, it may not suit everybody but it is a favourite place of mine

I didn't know about this place and don't recall seeing it mentioned on here.

Has anyone had the pleasure of dining or drinking here?

I've mentioned it previously, but it was a long time ago and it has been removed for me being useful :default_biggrin:

It has however changed quite a bit since then but if you dont mind overpaying a bit it isn't the worst place to visit, there are better places of course

ÂŁ13 for a full english, ÂŁ3 for a latte, can't comment on the food as I don't partake in that

It is dog friendly however, and they do a doggy dinner on sundays

Hearsay, I know, but I’ve just seen a post on a FB Broads Group page confirming that Richardson’s will not honour any solo hires booked through Silverline.  The individual concerned has rebooked with Bridgecraft.

If true I don't blame them.

Silverline were a brilliant yard especially for solo helms, and Bridgecraft are probably the best yard there is. I'd choose both of those (if possible, as things were) over any of the "big" yards if I were to hire again

So the MIAB  differentiates between hire craft and ones in private ownership. Hey ho.

As a solo helm, I struggle to find either something resembling an adult or anyone "capable" on my boat :default_biggrin:

  5. Just when you think life can't get any better...

sat all warm and cosy listening to the rain on the roof with the best company beside you and a refreshing drink in your hand, I get a call from the owner of my favourite website/forum to tell me I am the winner of their competition and will receive some of my new running shoes (ÂŁ150)

To say I am desperately in need right now and had no way of affording them any other way is an understatement, so I am absolutely chuffed right now.

You lot have something to answer for…worse than adverts.

Yes, I’ve succumbed and bought a Ninja multi cooker. Ninja, Amazon and John Lewis were all out of stock, so I got mine from AO for the same price, an eye watering £199. However, I can already see it’s going to cut down of the fuel bills. Tried some air fried frozen chips yesterday lunchtime. Half the time that they would take in the oven and 100% better. Yesterday evening, we had some peri peri chicken thighs…again half the time compared to oven roasting and so much better. This evening I tried out the pressure cooker option. A pumpkin and sweetcorn Thai curry, which was over cooked (too soft). I think 10 minutes with auto decompression would have been enough instead of 20 minutes.

I have plans to try out roasting a whole chicken tomorrow.

Do you mean a WHOLE strawberry?

All those seeds that could damage the delicate razor sharp blades of your brand new blender. Best not to risk it, just leave the strawberry out and replace it with extra rum

Can you set it on a timer so it's just done as you return from supporting the local economy by a sociable visit to said establishment? (as we often do with the oven on a sunday)

    No unfortunately

As for MM's question, yes get the bullet. Get the whole Ninja range they are all great and I swear I am not on commission :default_biggrin:

  9. They are really good MM, you won't regret it.

Especially after a sociable visit to a public establishment to support the local economy when you can fall back into your boat, load it full of greasy potatoes and 15 minutes later it switches itself off because you have forgotten you had turned it on when find a bottle of gin you forgot you had :default_wink:

I think you get free postage, an extended warranty and payment options by buying direct, but I have had mine that long I forget

    Cheers :default_winko:

  10. Much love to you kpnut (Kate?)

I have now lost every member of my family, yet despite everything I have gone through and everyone I have lost in life, I still regard losing my mum at her tender age of 60 the very hardest challenge I have faced

I wish you and your family my most sincere condolences, and yet all the very best going ahead in your future

Question (and apologies for the short notice!) can anyone recommend a decent restaurant at or within a short walk of Oulton Broads? Many thanks :default_drinks:

I was gonna say the Copper Smokehouse but having had a quick google I think it is closed on a Monday :default_biggrin:

    • Thanks 1
  12. Hi kpnut, there are many hidden wonders around the Broads for those of us that use them rather than just sit at home and talk about them :default_biggrin:

Like yourself I love to explore the walk and cruising routes all around the Broadlands so I hope you have great fun on your ventures.

There aren't many areas around the waterways I don't know, so I look forward to seeing if you can find somewhere new for me

All this talk of food…..  This is what Ethiopian tapas looks like!  Don’t ask what it is as I don’t know but it was delicious

Well I am guessing that is injera bread and there is a traditional lentil stew in there too I reckon. It looks delicious anyway, I love African food

Have a safe flight and journey back to your boat

I have to say we really enjoyed our visit and its now on our must visit list.

It is always a must visit for myself if up North. I was in there once again Tuesday dinnertime, socialising as you do :default_biggrin:

The atmosphere (and gin) was as good as ever:default_winko:

  15. I have just been allowed to join the forum so thank you for that, and I thought I should give a quick hi

I have been boating to some degree for over 20 years, both hiring and as an owner. I have used a number of waterways but the broads are without a doubt my favourite.

Currently I am without a boat but may be looking for one again in the near future, circumstances currently dictate I need to wait a while however, but I love all things Broads anyway and will be visiting again soon if my plans do not have to change.

Anyway, I hope to speak to you all soon. Thank you
