No, I didn't! Can you tell us where they are?
Seems the plan is working then
-
I devised and installed my own. I can't tell you how it works, or I'd have to slaughter you all, but I have it sounding two 12 volt sirens as fitted to house external alarm boxes. If it goes off, you can NOT stay in the boat, it hurts your ears! So if you have the option try that.
Talking of security, anyone moor at Langley Dyke? I could have helped myself to your moorings "security camera", it's that obvious. Well it would be with a flashing blue light on it, wouldn't it? Pointless. Any ne'er-do-well returning with his armful of stolen swag will nick the camera as well, or chuck it in the river!
Thing is while you were staring at that one did you see the others? Not everything is as it seems always!!

I've not long fitted a £55 gsm alarm from eBay. Seems to be running ok and doesn't use much power. Comes with wireless door magnets and pir.

Read somewhere else this boat has been recovered now.
-
We had a take away from happy Buddha the other week and thought it was really nice.
-
For the few hundred pounds I lost it wasn't worth claiming for. Iam sure it will be the same for a lot of people who have been robbed.

Hello Stuart
Are you able to say how much stuff was recovered, I did email broads beat last week but have not heard back yet. Just wondering if any of my stuff was recovered?
Thanks
John
Also is it correct that 17 outboards were taken from ranworth in one night?
-
Which insurance company is that as it sounds very goof?
-
Friend of mine had his engine stolen from the marina in cambridgeshire, and went to Id it today and the rest of his stuff. Eastern Europeans he was told.
-
I wonder if any I the stuff found is from the broads?

Thanks john

Wonder what that was all about?

How much for the anchor and 2 cables please? We are on the boat next week and heading north at some point.
Thanks john

I'd be interested in the anchor and a couple of the shore power leads. Where abouts are you please?

A good idea John. However if you live several miles from your boat it has its limitations.
To involve a security company to respond to an activation would be expensive and possibly not very effective.
But perhaps, just perhaps, a Boat Watch system could be introduced. It would not be beyond the wit of man to form a group, a non profit organisation, of like minded people, who would receive text alert of an attack on a boat. If close to the vicinity they possibly could respond and observe.
I am not suggesting for one minute to interfere, that would be foolish, but certainly a call to the police to confirm criminal activity would be a step forward.
Finally, a prominent notice, on the boat, stating that BOAT WATCH is present, and will result in an immediate response might just be sufficient for the criminals to go elsewhere.
If it goes off I will just ring the police. You never know they may have someone in a car nearby. I think they would like to catch these people as they are being pretty busy robbing stuff.

After having my boat broken into I fitted a alarm last weekend which sends a text and phones me up when activated. Don't know what else to do really
-
Sorry to hear that John, hopefully they will fall in and drown sooner or later.
Welcome to the broads and all that...
dave what with the idiot hire boat owner and breaking down last weekend was not great. But then they say things happen in threes so hopefully the rest of the season will be incident free.

Thought I'd better pop up to the boat last night as I moor at one of these places. Walk to boat and hoods open great, only been on the broads 9 days. They have been right through my boat and taken my tools and spot light so in all about £100 so about £20-30 at car boot. Thankfully they opened the hood with the zip not a Stanley knife. I hope they die a slow painful death. Back up tomorrow to meet the police. I knew when I took the mooring it was pretty isolated and it might happen just didn't think just yet.
