  1. Hi Dom

Actually the refurb that he did was pretty amazing sadly he died before he finished it.Some seriously high tech stuff some of it difficult for the likes of us to get our heads around. From what we have learned about him  he was a superb boat builder and craftsman. The boat has been very well maintained and we hopefully will carry on his work.Shame he didn't make it stern moor by itself!

  2. We bought the boat with some 12k of navigation equipment on it.I can't see us using it and we certainly can't understand the workings. As you say not a lot of information about it.The previous owner Kingsley Farrington was a very experienced seaman so clearly did not need manuals. With the information that we have received we have a pretty good idea what we could install. Many Thanks to all who have shared their knowledge.

    Regards

  3. Hi John

Yes the canopy is usually up.Would agree if it was down the vision through the patio doors would be better.Did wonder if we could fit a camera on the radar arch.It is comforting to know that more boat owners than us need assistance to stern moor.Don't feel so much of a numpty!

    Many Thanks

  4. Hi

Thanks for all your responses. I knew some one would know. The wealth of knowledge on this Forum is extensive.

Anv . It is twin engine inboard. The vision is not good. Smoggy . How true. We are not the worst helm but not the best either even after many years  of boating .We are at Cove and it is pretty tight . The only consolation is that the majority of berth holders do have some issues. We have been out at the weekend and managed to get it back in  with using the ropes  a fair bit, so O.K. but not ideal. We have an extensive Furuno navigation system. Does anyone know  if a camera could be integrated into this?

    Many Thanks

    Keith

  5. Hi

Does anyone have experience of a reversing camera. We have a Princess 33 moored in a really difficult spot in our marina. So much so that we are wary about taking her out and thought a camera might alleviate some of the stress.Any thoughts would be  apprecIated.

    Many Thanks

  6. Hi Thanks for all the replies. We have only had the boat since June and the previous owner died so we have no point  of contact. We think it is a Phototonic 100w with a 30 amp controller so given what has been said it should take a 300 w panel.Don't think that it is that old as Kingsley Farrington bought it in ,2019 part refurbished it but only use it twice. So far it has been a whole lot of trouble but that is boating for you.We figured that someone on the Forum would know. You guys have a  wealth of knowledge and experience.

    Many Thsnks

  7. We have on our boat what we think is a 100 w solar panel. We dare not risk the batteries going flat as we have an electric toilet so we want to fit a larger one..Can we draw on the huge amount of knowledge on this forum and ask if we replace it with a 300w panel would it be a straight drop or would the whole thing need rewiring?

    Many Thanks

    Keith and Pauline

  8. As far as I know you use both but you can use one but the steering is not that good.We will find out when we sail her.Apparently you do not need a bow thruster. One engine in forward one in reverse. However we didn't fancy trying that so we have had one fitted. After all the years on the Broads we are not good h elmsmen!

  9. Hi Everyone

I think my typo has lead to some confusion.I should have typed Wayford not Watford. However there are some really fancy ultrasonic sensors  on the tanks which are new but not connected. It is with  a boat yard at the moment who are lost as to what to do with them. The previous owner Kingsley Farrington sadly died so we are hoping to have the electrical engineer involved to look at them once back at Cove.It has three tanks and a transfer system but we don't know how much they hold in  total or how much is in them at present. It is a touch scary getting it to Cove as neither of us have driven it yet. Full of really high tech gear the only problem is we can't work any of it!

    Many Thanks

  10. We have bought a Princess 33 with two Ford Mermaid 80 hp engines.Could anyone give advice on fuel consumption. The fuel gauges are not working correctly and we need to take it from Watford to Brundall.I

    Many Thanks

  11. We have just bought another boat despite saying that we never would again ! We have done all the cruises and exotic holidays but in reality nothing comes close to the Broads. However our old flag is somewhat tatty.Where can we purchase another one?

    Many Thanks

  12. We had an Ocean which we sold before Covid lockdown.Didn't realise how good it was until we started looking for another boat.Don't mind really but 30 foot is about all we could manage now.We saw an advert for an Ocean Lady of Leisure but cannot seem to contact anyone so may have been an old advert. It was moored at Broadsedge if anyone knows of it.Thanks for replying.

  13. We hired last week and moored at Herringfleet.A young couple in a day boat moored up .The girl jumped off complete with toilet roll and proceeded to the long grass. We than passed them at another mooring doing exactly the same.It is not hire craft that cause this disgusting issue but day boat hirers. Not wanting to sound ageist but I fear the younger generation are probably the biggest culprits.

  14. That Mirage looks very nice.Have noticed it earlier. Will be worth a look.Having had a boat before and now regretting selling it. Maybe our expectations are a touch  high. There is a very nice Princess 33 but it won't pass under Ludham. We wouldn't consider any other boatyard to maintain any future boat but Moonfleet Marine hence the aircraft criteria. Thanks for all the thoughts.Much appreciated
