  1. If its the rail line from Chester to Holyhead that you want to travel on. You can watch the whole journey from the cab, on the Don Coffey You Tube channel. The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways are worth the trip as is the Snowdon  Mountain Railway. Another must do is the Llanberis Pass, a cracking drive at the side of Snowdon. If a caravan site is required in the area try Bron Derw farm site at Llanwrst, its a cracker.

  2. Hi Adam. You need to be on Youtube to get ideas for your boat. Victron energy have a good site, for marine use. journey with Johno did a narrowboat vlog whilst many van lifers  have also done some good systems. See Greg Virgoe, Gadget John, Lukes van life for ideas.

What you will need is some idea of budget, number and types of battery and how many charge inputs you will use, ie mains, solar, wind, alternator. A good start would be to look at Victron`s B2B battery management system. Good hunting.

  3. If Griff does find himself being chased by the Blessed Authority for his "hard earned". I, for one, will be offering payment towards any crowd fund that may be required.

  4. Just a suggestion Griff. Would it be possible to change the tyre size on the Z3? On my Landcruiser I changed my 265/65/17 tyres to 265/70/17, changing the aspect ratio gave me an extra inch on the diameter of the wheel and tyre. It gave me an extra 3 mph on top speed or reduced my revs by 200 rpm at 70 mph, and did not catch any suspension or body parts.           It may be possible to check the BMW forums for confirmation that it can be done, or you can Google the tyre size comparison sites, which will give you the speed difference. Good luck.

  5. Has anyone bought or used any of the "Portable power stations" that are on the market these days? The offerings from Ecoflow, Jackery, Poweroak and Bluetti look to be popular.

I`ve just purchased an Ecoflow Delta Max that works the microwave, slow cooker, air fryer etc. I`ve used it in my caravan but not yet a boat. Has anyone got experience of using them afloat.

  6.

If the M62 is closed the low level route is always open. A58 Rochdale / Littleborough.  A6033 Littleborough / Toddmorden. Then A646 to Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd, Salterhebble & Halifax. If that route is closed, it will mean that Yorkshire has invaded Lancashire.

  7. And now to make it worse, the drivers hours regulations that were brought into law on safety grounds have been suspended by the government. So drivers can now work longer hours still.  Anybody for a 25 hour 8 day week???

  8. The boat that Clive has bought from the Thames is Merlin V. It`s a boat that was based at Benson Waterfront for many years and belonged to an RAF charity for the use of officers and families. Most of the users where pilots from the nearby Benson Helicopter base whose skills as boat Captains was, at best, questionable.
