    I know that everyone has their favourite pub to eat at and I love hearing recommendations, but for a quick bite/fast food where is your favourite? Mine is the burger bar at Potter Heigham. Good food and good service.

    I'm sorry Ricardo but a lot of boats were failed for having Hoses better than the standard, because they didn't have the relevant BS number on them, Including mine. Many boats had been fitted with flexible metal lifetime pipes to cookers and fridges and these had to be replaced with BS rubber hoses that need replacing every few years...
    I also had to replace the air inlet pipe to the tank because it was to small, never mind with only a 1.5 engine and having been afloat for over thirty years it had been quite sufficient.
    I also had to replace the fuel filter because it had a glass Bowl bottom.
    I would have thought that glass bowl would have been better. Do they give you a reason why it should be changed?

    Does anyone have any sort of alarm on their boat? Can you get boat alarms? I know that there isn't much crime on the broads but anything to deter sticky little fingers.

    Electric Hook Up

    Thinking about adding electric hook up to a boat. Over winter I want the batteries to be charged via an electric hook up point. Or would you go for a solar panel to do this? A solar panel won't charge the batteries to full capacity when you are on the boat and you would need to run the engine. So is a solar panel a good idea or use mains hookup or if mooring where you can't use a hookup just render the engine, respecting the neighbours of course.

    If I'm about, I'll take you through, then give you some advice, sit on your shoulder while you take her through.  Once you have done it once, know your boat, how she handles, got an accurate measurement of your boats headroom, then it's a breeze and you wonder what all the fuss was about.  Having said that even now when I take 'B.A' through PHB I am far from blasé about it and it's a relief when completed

    When I get my boat(shouldn't be too long now) I havnt the confidence to take it through wroxham bridge. Does anyone know how much the pilot charges?

    Hi all
    We have been asked to provide a list of private moorings with contact details in the Handy Information Section.
    Not being local or a boat owner I would need to be supplied with some information.
    Could anyone with knowledge of moorings please only add to this thread with 
    • the mooring name and location

    I was wondering, hire boats can't travel after sunset but do any of the owners here travel on the broads after dark? What problems have you encountered? Where did you travel from and to.?
