  1. Hi All I’m just after some advice around watching the Powerboat Racing from our Hire Boat in July this year as despite being Broads veterans by now we have never watched the Racing before. Is there a time cut-off for entering the Broad before the Racing starts? There is no racing on the Thursday evening we are there but we are looking at the Sunday 12:00pm racing slot but we assume at some point navigation will be suspended and we would need to get to a pre booked mooring much earlier? Any other advice on the best viewing spots would be appreciated - I believe there are Pubs that also have moorings in addition to the Yacht Station. Cheers
  2. Thanks everyone for your responses! There is the issue of time to get there from Stalham (hit and miss at Richardsons as to whether we get the boat at 1pm or 4pm in recent years) I guess Friday will be a changeover day for a number of boats which could render Stracey Arms slightly less busy on the Friday night but it is a risk. We had planned to reach Beccles on the Saturday evening but we may have to rethink that now and wait for a later opportunity to cross!
  3. Hi Thanks for the quick reply. I assume then the issue is more tide than clearance the later we go across? Obviously the clearance will reduce the more the tide comes in but it's more about how rough and difficult the passage of Breydon will be?
  4. Hi We’ve crossed Breydon once a year for a number of years on our Annual Hire Boat Holiday but this year is slightly different and we’re a little confused. We collect our Boat from Stalham on the Friday evening in a couple of weeks and are therefore hoping to be at Acle that evening. From there we intend to cross Breydon on Saturday but the time given for Slack at Yarmouth is 05:41am which is the earliest we’ve experienced over the last 10 years of visiting. Even if we were to leave Acle at first light will we likely be able to get through does anyone think? Having tried to moor at Yarmouth once before years ago and not doing so since, we don’t want to risk arriving at Yarmouth before it’s staffed from 8:00am and find we can’t go through as we do not fancy Mooring at the Yacht Station without guidance. I’ve tried for years to understand the ebbs and flows of the tides at Yarmouth and Breydon but to no avail despite reading this thread also. If the height is sufficient to get through what would we be facing the later after Slack we go through will we be fighting the tide on Breydon or going down the Bure (or both)!! Our Air Draft is 7’ 6” by the way.
