  1. Immediate reaction, it won’t happen thinking how broads authority/other moronic organisations are so good at stopping progressive projects which will bring jobs temporary and permanent, I hope it does go ahead the broads needs so redevelopment in places, and before I get shot down I don’t mean rip up all the broads for a marina I’m one example of someone who has all ways holidayed and owned boats on the broads but the situation with moorings reducing and the broads authority bending boat owners other until something changes I’ll never come back to the broads it just doesn’t represent value anymore, all that said hopefully Richardsons do get it done

  2. Just curious, I’m having a broom 10/70 surveyed in the next week with the potential to purchase the boat, has any done the trip from London to Gt Yarmouth recently I haven’t done it for at least 15 years only really asking for guesstimate for fuel she has the 150hp Volvos on her I’m not looking for  actual cost just if anyone has done the trip more recently than 15years for a rough guess 👍

Our Local Spar shop has fresh notices up ready for Tuesday when Mask wearing is to become compulsory in shops once again.  My MrsG will be following the guidelines as she works there (I sometimes prefer her in a mask btw :default_icon_e_surprised: )

I had my flu jab last week with no side effects, not even a sore arm.  Got my Covid booster jab booked for a week tomorrow, can't get it before then

    Griff

I’m in Sheffield it’s very hard to get the flu jab this will be first year I’ve had it but lots of places are struggling to get vaccine

    Chloe Jane is 1" ID

However, because the pump comes with no unions as standard you could have anything from 1/2" to 1 1/4" according to what the original requirement was.

    Sorry....

Think it may be 1 1/4 I have 3 hoses in van so it’s a pretty good chance it’s one of them 👍

Not the answer your looking for but I just fill watering can with anti freeze and undo top of raw water filter and pour while engine running.

Yer would do that but I’m a solo maintenance jobs guy🤣🤪, so I put hose into a ten litre bottle with the antifreeze in so I warm engine the take in take hose off then put other hose on then put it in bottle walk through boat start engine walk to back see colour change at exhaust the shut her off all solo

  8. Can’t remember what common size the 1.5 bmc raw water pump inlet is I need to put antifreeze through on Saturday so I need to get some hose to put in the bucket can jog my memory as my workshop has loads of bits n pieces I’ve got 25mm in my head

  9. I must say I think everyone needs to stay indoors and only go out to work and only if you earn enough to pay your tax’s and only if you can’t work from home do not enjoy country pursuits don’t eat meat because it’s bad for the environment and cruel to animals (oh but don’t ruin the country side by growing food) don’t own dogs dont fish don’t navigate water ways incase you bump it to a otter bit bored of all the BS nowadays!!!

  10. I do similar the thing I do that you haven’t mentioned you do is I mix or buy the biodegradable antifreeze and open the top of the strainer and using a big bottle like a ad blu bottle once engine is warn start with no revs (you’ll need a helper) and poor it in (oh and turn valve on strainer off) and when it colours the exhaust water it’s through then turn off, but I keep eye on forecast if we are due a really cold snap then take further steps, I like to use mine all winter for a fishing base

I think the shower sump I had on my old boat had a johnson centrifugal pump and float switch (normal bilge pump stuff)  inside and the inlets were filtered via a mesh screen that was easy enough to clean, seemed to last ok and was always on.

Now got a diaphram pump on my present boat that needs switching on and off and sounds like a randy frog.

'Kin hell I'm sure I didn't pay that much for it! (£153 from asap) Of course 1 will do multiple showers if so equiped and can take calorifier prv outlet too.

I had looked at these but I think I would struggle to locate one if I can I may in the aft shower they are very cheap to 😀

  13. I had already bought the sundries (hoses, filters, inline fuses cable ect) I have just read on another forum from a guy with a ocean yacht he used one for three seasons before it packed so I’ll consider my options further and do some more searching as I hate going in to chandeliers buying direct saves a fortune

  14. On my alpha 32 being ex hire the water from the showers drain in to th bilge witch I can’t stand im fitting pumps to both, I would usually just use the common makes we all no but has any one had any experience with the cheaper makes on the market as my school of thought is for the price I can buy 5 for the price of one and when you consider how little it will be pumping compared to a boat still in hire, but I have that tradesman mentality buy cheap buy twice has anyone used the cheese ones?

Why? That just gives the beach feeling when showering, tell her it's just mud and sand between her toes.

Mmmmm 🤢🤢🤢 not sure that will cut musta 😂🤣😂🤣

Some were made by Sealand Technology, one was named The Traveller, the other I forget but it had a bigger seat. Think you can buy overhaul service kits from ASAP or Peachments.

I’ll get on to it, some reason the wife is keen for me to stop waste getting in to shower trays 🤢

  17. I have two of the toilet type with the pedal to flush(off the domestic water tank) up to fill and down to empty and rinse, they both leak badly so I’m starting to strip them down next Saturday does anyone no the makes of this type if I can get bits for them I will of get similar parts from various suppliers I no if anyone recalls what they are great 👍

I have certainly noticed over the years how much the clarity has improved, especially the northern rivers, even with high volume of boat traffic the Bure in Wroxham is much clearer.  In winter with less boat traffic right down to Horning is clear most days, never used to be the case.  I am also seeing more and more lilies on the waters edge, as we know Lilies won't perform well in polluted water.  Lilies & weeds never seems to bother 'B.A's prop / rudder or her filters

And of course from everyone insisting on having showers 3 times a day!!!

Replaced one type of pollutant with another! A reason why many new boats on the hire fleets are fitted with grey water tanks which take all the washing up, shower water etc etc. Less visible than the floating variety but still  a difficult pollutant to deal with.

I no it’s not a final solution regarding washing water but I have started using biodegradable soaps and washing up soaps on the boat until I eventually fit bigger waste tanks to take grey water the soaps are not as good but combine this with shore showers and toilets when available it might make a small difference

Thanks all - I’ve decided to get someone to come and have a look rather than me messing about when I really don’t know what I’m doing! Hopefully I’ll learn something along the way.

Any consultation I’ve had two boats with the same lumps as yours, great reliable motors with regular services every now and then they get little niggles but overall great petrol engines

  21. Not over bothered we do pop there occasionally but always found the shop with hardly any stock the pub is hot or miss nothing spectacular, I do like the walk with the dogs early when the suns coming up, but I wouldn’t hang around waiting, I get why hire boats “must get to a pub” never really understood why it’s a must if you have your own boat we do sometimes but if your going often it would be more than going abroad

In my day. Gauges, none. The water tank. The wonder tank. You allways wondered what was in it.

The fuel tank. A stick. Never failed. Never confused.

The toilet tank. The nose. A bit of kit which was invaluable. A sniff, a sniff recognised by all. Every soul was on QRA (quick reaction alert) for a pump out.

    Andrew

Agree 100% there’s probably no reason to over complicate river cruisers on the broads less to break = less to maintain = more beer tokens 🍺👍

  23. Years ago richard sabberton (dick) was still alive and running summer craft all ways moaned about ba when Richardsonsons dug out at stalham there was no opposition however he wanted to put another shed and slip way and dig out for it and it was rejected I don’t no the final outcome but I no he never held them in high regard

  24. I travel 100 to 150 mile a day not life saving work just a contract I’m on at the moment, how ever I may have to not work this week due to lack of diesel and then incurring late finishing charges which may loose our future tenders and possibly the other tradesmen I work with may need to find other contacts it has a massive knock on JUST BUY FUEL LIKE YOU NORMALLY DO!!! Then there would be NO problem….
