  1. Interesting topic!

As a local - and a boat owner, we have never had an problems with either Stag or Hen parties.

I'm sure that isn't everybodies experience, but we have met them on the water and in some of the pubs and only found them to be out to have a bit of fun. Some of the costumes can be a bit over the top but never offensive and while one or two get a bit worse for wear, there is normally somebody in the party keeping an eye on things.

    Keep them coming.

  2. There is a danger that we get into a heated argument between owners and hirers which will achieve nothing.

The reality is that the broads are there for us all to enjoy and we need BA to manage it efficiently and in a cost effective manner.

Unfortunately, BA is 'broken' and needs a complete revamp to make it effective in todays world.

From an owners point of view I don't have a problem with the level of the toll if the authority is managing properly, in fact it's probably the lowest part of our boating costs.

What we really need is a united voice and an authotity which is answerable to all it's users.

  3. No 3 is currently for sale at NYA and looks a lovely boat.

We bought Gavin's 27 (Namaste) but traded up to a Sealine 310 last year.

The Falcon was our first boat and we loved it.

  4. Not sure if it's common or not.

Went to check the boat out at the weekend and ended up in The Ship - as you do! Looked across and thought there was some sacking on the timber work by the swing bridge - until it moved, then realised it was a seal basking in the winter sun.

Clearly not bothered by trains or people - I did take a photo on my phone, but as it was directly into the sun it is very poor.

  5. I am planning on taking the SRC Course and enquired at Barton Turf Adventure Centre - their response below.

    Anybody else interested?

If we can get at least 4 people, I'm hoping to organise an SRC course for 10th November. If it's on, I'll email you and also post on our Facebook page.

Cost will be £99 a head, which includes £30 payable to the authorities for the licence. (If you can get together a group of at least 5, the rate is reduced to £85 each)

Course lasts one day (09.30 - 17.00) and you will need to bring your lunch (tea, coffee making facilities available here)

You will also need to bring a passport photo to go on the licence.

Handbooks are provided as part of the course.

    cheers - Mike O
