Just as a matter of interest, when was the pilot introduced at Wroxham Bridge? I don't remember using one when we hired in the 80's and 90's
-
So are we saying the hire companies are holding the Broads to ransome and if we do get wacked tough? This problem maybe due to the minority but there are frequent reports of such on all forums. It really has to be stopped - my boat cost me a lot of money!
Nope! What I'm saying is there is a flip side to everything.....and my boat also cost me alot of money! But I bought it fully in the knowledge of where I was using it and the risks that go with it.

"(I saw a hire boat up here yesterday with a great big hole in it where it had mounted some rocks)"
Is this confession time John?

Just been looking at the Silverline site. Their new boat is "Silver Simoon". I do like the way they keep a traditional "boat" shape yet incorporate all the modern refinements you could possibly wish for.
Trevor
Yes that 'traditional boat' is the old Bounty 40 mould Trevor and still looks a gem I recon

Well quite.......and when all the hire companies have been driven out of business by this you just may end up with a Norfolk Broads with no maintained moorings, dredged waterways and thriving riverside pubs etc............

This company seem to stock every rubber product you can imagine..............well nearly!

If the bigger yards have a captive audience they can get away with selling it too at the higher price why wouldn't they?
A very good point Keith as they are there to make money after all. If we were filling our tanks with postmix cola from a pub, then we would be crying

All good fun in the day until they made it legal........now that really spoilt it

I still find that high for a 60/40 price, Asda self service were £1.37 this morning for full duty paid road diesel, if they are selling 100% duty paid for that price how can 60/40 be £1.49?
I find fuel prices very confusing
I would think some of it is down to the fact Asda buy so many million litres, so get a larger discount, but not totally the answer.

I remember the old SWR meters and the battle to always keep it down

I have now spoken to Barry regarding the Northern spring meet. Sadly after suffering both a close bereavement and personal injury in the last couple of weeks, he feels unable to organise an event for this year. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery and send him my condolences
He does however hope to organise something for later on in the season, so fingers crossed........
All the very best Barry and thankyou for the considerable time, effort and personal expense you have put into the past events
I hope this statement meets your satisfaction John and puts the matter to bed as it were?
-
No no John I'm not organising it. The quote you copied, incidentally from the 'Members Only' area and placed on open forum was made because I was lead to believe a Northern meet was taking place .
-
This should confuse things even more for you, Dave!
Jimbo (James) is a Moderator and we're still waiting to hear when the Spring Meet will take place.
So am I John! And as you have attended the last 2 spring meets, I'm quite surprised you haven't noticed I don't organise them........but maybe I'm not
