  1. Thanks for your advice Clive. I think I'm going to pull out because the price is 8k and it seems too much considering what I might have to pay.

The costs could escalate to a frightening amount and it no longer appears like a bargain.

I don't think that any of the other bidders were prepared to pay the reserve price either.

But as I say I'm a complete boating novice and I'm live on the water in a safe boat.

    Regards.

  2. Dear teadaemon,

thanks for your input, there are so many things to consider! The way she's lying on the blocks, I fear that there might be insufficient support and I'm worried that she's sagging. I may have to think good and hard about this purchase!

    I'll keep looking.

    cheers.

  3. Thanks Clive.

You sound like the man with the know how. The Broads Venturer XII is the boat in your profile.

If I could keep picking your brain, I'd appreciate it.

On the Jessie May, the engine doesn't work, I'm told it's either the starter motor or alternator. The engine's a BMC 2.7 diesel. Are these difficult to get parts for as you say in your thread.

May have been out of the water for a while, so difficult to know whether she'll be watertight when she goes back in.

Her reserve was a fair bit more than the highest bid achieved, so as a starting point, I'm wondering how much more I'll have to pay before she's ready to go.

Any info will be a great help.

  4. Hi

I saw your comments about Jessie May. Can you tell me anything about her construction and do you think a boat like this is worth buying as a live aboard, constantly cruising? I'm putting this out to anyone in the know. I'm interested in her and the more I know about her history the better.

I'm a bit green and would value your expertise.

    Thanks ecodingo.
