2hp outboard max power at 2/3 throttle??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I've got a little mariner 2hp outboard ( basically a yamaha 2b) and it works fine but seems to reach max power at 2/3 throttle. I say this because there's stickers to indicate low, medium and high speed and theres resistence in the nob up to half and you can tell the speed is increased. However just above half theres no resistence and the speed doesn't increase atall.

Is this a normal thing on outboards or does the throttle need tweeking? :party2:

The slider control on those outboards is a very simple lever arrangement, with no cables or adjustment.

Apart from the tickover adjustment setting, the butterfly is fully opened when the lever moves up, wherever the knob ends up.

Look on the bright side, there's no cable to break ! :naughty:
