On reflection
Appologies to both Perry and the technical forum moderator, did'nt mean to make lite of a serious subject, just that I have a great deal of contempt for those that see themselves as higher than the law and shrug their shoulders when they get it wrong even if they have done irreprable damage in the proccess. sure that all the people at HMRC are human possibly.

Are you sure it is the WC you are looking at and not the washing machine Perry.

and a top speed of 6 mph Jonny dont know if it is electronic or manual but what a waste. Is bad enough doing Breydon at 6 or 7 mph in a normal hire boat, imagine how you would feel on that.

Ooch, thanks for that Perry, suppose a week isn't too bad and in the middle of summer you would'nt normally expect to be stuck for longer than that, as long as we don't get another year like this one.

Great Idea Brian but dont think you have factored in the duty that you must self declare and pay to HMRC sure someone will put the exact figure in but think it is around 27p per litre.
You can only go duty free if it is for personal use and you brewed it yourself.
For arguments sake it is your company so you could say it was personal use and brewing as a member of a club would make the brewing kit at least partly yours.
Reality HMRC say tough, blow up the still and charge you a few thousand for the privalige of doing so, then the nice man performs the strip search just because he likes to do this and you go to prison for 50 years. In order to make room they will release a murderer or rapist but only if they have served a full 3 days imprisonment, if all murderers and rapists have been released than a speeding motorist maybe released providing he has served at least 25 years.

Question for Perry or David, as your return from the summer voyage was deleyed by the weather I assume that you incured lots of mooring fees, do they continue to charge you at the overnight rate in that situation or are reduced prices given, also if not too nosey what are the fee's like around that part of the world?

Saw Liberty go past us at the Swan Horning, have to say that she would have looked a lot more impessive if someone had given her a clean before sending her out.
Gorgeous real boat with the private factor in bucket loads, but would have been a bit upset if the boat was handed over to me like that.

Johnny, all are welcome on white lady but think it may be wise to let me get a few sea hours under my belt first, unless you are good at pushing boats off mud banks that is,

Should a sea toilet hold water in the bowl?
I assume it should but for some reason white ladys seeps away into the holding tank, if you switch over to the sea outlet it still seeps away. Thpught about putting an upwards pointing loop in the outlet pipe but cant get it in anywhere.
Any suggestions?

Looking forward to our first trip out next year, have done so much in preperation though I hope it is worth it.
Taken dayskipper, theory at least.
fixed the VHF,
bought Flares,
bought Tender to double as emergency liferaft,
Bought admiralty chart
Bought GPS
still to buy
hand bearing compass,
horseshoe life bouy, (yes know should have one anyway)
Almanac
Engine Spares
this is just the basics too so I am told, when someone said that boating was an expensive hobby my perception of expensive didn't quite measure up to reality.
Still got a couple of 3lt petrol engines to feed once I get out there as well.

Burgh Castle Marina
in Broads Slipways
Posted
Have been at Burgh for a year and the biggest bug bear is possibly the most usefull, Showers and toilets are a massive hike up all across the caravan site and involves getting through the main gates which are padlocked so have to be unlocked and then re locked, a walk up the drive, through another gate then a hike over the grass to the swimming pool, climb a steep set of steps, then another hike across the rest of the caravan park to the toilet and shower block.
The Marina is unfortunately treated as a poor cousin to the caravan park but even the caravaners would be hard pressed to get a crack at the swimming pool which opens for 2 hours a day if you are very lucky and usually not at all outside of school hols and from 11am - 4pm during school hols.
