I think you mean John Colerick, Pete was the Clutten at the ship.
I do indeed Smoggy, just got his Christian wrong.

The Nelson at Reedham was never any good after Pete Colerick left.

It doesn't have to, you can have a valve before the plug.
Why didn't I think of that🤔

all above ground tanks have a drain off below ground have a suction pipe to a collector. all boats should have one to. John
Unfortunately BSS require any tank drain to be fitted with a cap or plug which can only be removed by use of tools. This would tend to make any water drain checks a very messy business!|
2.8 Fuel tank connections
2.8.1
Is the fuel tank drain fitted with a plug or cap which can only be removed with tools? RCheck each fuel tank for the presence of a fuel drain facility.
If present, check the drain outlet for the presence of a plug, cap or blank.
If present, the outlets from fuel tank drains
and drain valves must be terminated with a
‘tools‐to‐remove’ plug, cap or blank.NOTE – the provision of a fuel tank drain facility is not a requirement.
NOTE ‐ The plug, cap or blank must be of proprietary manufacture and/or metallic and it must be fixed in place by a screw mechanism which requires a tool to remove it. -
Just got to love Desmond's 5 o'clock shadow. He looks like a fully paid up member of the Ant Hill Mob!

On the local waterways to Cambs a lot of moorings are rented by the Ouse Valley River club and are private moorings for their club members only
I didn't know OVRC ran such a scheme. I am a member of both GOBA (Great Ouse Boating Association) and FORTN (Friends Of The River Nene) both of whom run such a scheme for members only. Generally bankside only.

The dark blue hulled boat was up on blocks and oil drums at Broadlands Holiday Village about mid 2000's. Repair work to the hull was planned, but was found to be too far gone to be economically viable and was dismantled. I used to park my car in front of her.

As I see it, the requirements for boating qualifications could kill the hire boat industry. If I have my Elysian transported to France to enjoy the canals and rivers there as Skipper I am required to hold both ICC and CEVNI certificates. However if I rock up with the cash, I can hire a boat and with a modicum of training (presumably a similar HO/TO session similar to present Broads hire organisations) sail off down the river. As usual, the French don't seem to let regulations get in their way!

i wonder how many of the tests show a false positive ??

Me for one. Someone in our block of flats tested positive so I had a test too. 16 days later I feel no worse nor better than I did a month ago.

Does a steam driven boat need a pressure test as part of it's BSS certification?
Yes, Appendix J of the BSS Examination Checking Procedures applies.

I have an Elysian that suffered this problem. Although it is powered by a 4-108 Perky, the oil cooler in the raw water circuit had developed a leak and yes rainbows at the stern! A new cooler from ASAP soon sorted the problem.

Hamilton International, part of the Swatch Group, provided evidence that they have been selling watches bearing the name since 1892.
Sums up his personality for me . Clearly suffering from a severe dose of helioproctosis !
Why didn't they countersue and insist Hamilton changed his racing name!!
I remember Posh Spice trying to stop Peterborough FC from calling themselves the Posh!
Over inflated egos comes to mind!

Very handy having a tame engineer for a son. Middle lad is in the process of refurbing the raw water inlet or my Elysian. New seacock and a new weedfilter made by him.
Above shows old and new. Following shows new body and filter element.
I use a length of 20mm pvc conduit to rod out the weed. Much needed on the Old West section of the Great Ouse in summer. If the lockdown isn't too ongoing, the boat will be coming back to the Broads next year.
Getting too old to faff about with the locks on the Gt Ouse, Middle levels and Nen!

Rich as Crassus, or rich as Croesus?
Crassus was a Politician generally considered to be the richest man in Rome
Croesus was the KIng of Lydia and generally considered to be the richest man on Earth

There was often a shoot by Langley Dyke in years past.

Calcutt boats at Southam in the Midlands rebuild BMC diesels. I have had one done by them. Quite satisfied with it, However, middle son has since turbocharged it as the 4-108 Perky was quicker than the 1.5 BMC in a similar Elysian hull! He still isn't quicker!
