The Nelson at Reedham was never any good after Pete Colerick left.
  4. Why didn't I think of that🤔
  5. Unfortunately BSS require any tank drain to be fitted with a cap or plug which can only be removed by use of tools. This would tend to make any water drain checks a very messy business!| 2.8 Fuel tank connections 2.8.1 Is the fuel tank drain fitted with a plug or cap which can only be removed with tools? R Check each fuel tank for the presence of a fuel drain facility. If present, check the drain outlet for the presence of a plug, cap or blank. If present, the outlets from fuel tank drains and drain valves must be terminated with a ‘tools‐to‐remove’ plug, cap or blank. NOTE – the provision of a fuel tank drain facility is not a requirement. NOTE ‐ The plug, cap or blank must be of proprietary manufacture and/or metallic and it must be fixed in place by a screw mechanism which requires a tool to remove it.
  6. Just got to love Desmond's 5 o'clock shadow. He looks like a fully paid up member of the Ant Hill Mob!
  7. I didn't know OVRC ran such a scheme. I am a member of both GOBA (Great Ouse Boating Association) and FORTN (Friends Of The River Nene) both of whom run such a scheme for members only. Generally bankside only.

The dark blue hulled boat was up on blocks and oil drums at Broadlands Holiday Village about mid 2000's. Repair work to the hull was planned, but was found to be too far gone to be economically viable and was dismantled. I used to park my car in front of her.
  9. As I see it, the requirements for boating qualifications could kill the hire boat industry. If I have my Elysian transported to France to enjoy the canals and rivers there as Skipper I am required to hold both ICC and CEVNI certificates. However if I rock up with the cash, I can hire a boat and with a modicum of training (presumably a similar HO/TO session similar to present Broads hire organisations) sail off down the river. As usual, the French don't seem to let regulations get in their way!
  10. My middle lads Rottie used to like watching TV with my Granddaughter. This from 4 years ago. Junglebook!
  11. Me for one. Someone in our block of flats tested positive so I had a test too. 16 days later I feel no worse nor better than I did a month ago.
  12. Yes, Appendix J of the BSS Examination Checking Procedures applies.
  13. I have an Elysian that suffered this problem. Although it is powered by a 4-108 Perky, the oil cooler in the raw water circuit had developed a leak and yes rainbows at the stern! A new cooler from ASAP soon sorted the problem.
  14. I remember Posh Spice trying to stop Peterborough FC from calling themselves the Posh! Over inflated egos comes to mind!
  15. Repost of photos, I took them from shared photos on Google photos.Have now saved them to a document file so am trying again.
  16. Very handy having a tame engineer for a son. Middle lad is in the process of refurbing the raw water inlet or my Elysian. New seacock and a new weedfilter made by him. Above shows old and new. Following shows new body and filter element. I use a length of 20mm pvc conduit to rod out the weed. Much needed on the Old West section of the Great Ouse in summer. If the lockdown isn't too ongoing, the boat will be coming back to the Broads next year. Getting too old to faff about with the locks on the Gt Ouse, Middle levels and Nen!
  17. Rich as Crassus, or rich as Croesus? Crassus was a Politician generally considered to be the richest man in Rome Croesus was the KIng of Lydia and generally considered to be the richest man on Earth
  18. There was often a shoot by Langley Dyke in years past.
  19. Calcutt boats at Southam in the Midlands rebuild BMC diesels. I have had one done by them. Quite satisfied with it, However, middle son has since turbocharged it as the 4-108 Perky was quicker than the 1.5 BMC in a similar Elysian hull! He still isn't quicker!
  20. I wonder if anything is coming from this mob parked up off Southwold!
  21. Waterside at Bramerton stopped being a pub when it changed from the Woods End. IMHO
