  1. We all watched Swallows and Amazons Forever on Saturday Evening.

What a lovely Film :) Clare really enjoyed it ( shes only 6 ).

She hooked now, and i managed to find The Big Six on DVD on ebay last night :) at a bargain price.

Have you seen the price of the Original Books ? £ 125 !!

  2. Over the years i have found that many of the Broads are not accessible by road and are private. :(

But Some Broads which can be fished are :-

    Alderfen

15 acres of boat fishing only

    Barton Broads

100 acres of fishing by boat

    Beeston Hall

(Lower Lake) 5 acres to fish

    Decoy Broads

Norwich AA Hickling Broads & Heigham Sound

400 acres of fishing accessible by boat

    Horsey Mere

Must be accessed from Meadow Dyke. No boats for hire locally. :( Bank fishing limited to Horsey Village Staithe (buy tickets at Staithe Store).

Little Bridge Broads ( keep it quiet its my local fishing ground )

A small broad good at dawn and dusk. ;)

    Ormesby Broad

Rollesby, Lily, Great Ormsby and Filby

    Broads

800 acres of angling waters, not connected to the rest of the navigation. Best fished by boat.

    Rockland Broad

    Mostly boat fishing.

    River Ant

At Ludham Bridge there is free fishing for 2.25 miles on the left hand bank both up and downstream of the Bridge.

    River Bure

One of the major rivers of the Broads system, with certain stretches being very difficult to fish. Try Coltishall Common , Wroxham, Woodbastwick, Acle Bridge. Boats available in several places, boat hire available per day to non-members.

    River Chet

Fishing is available from Loddon to Hardley Cross.

    River Stiffkey

Delightful small Norfolk river with some Brown trout. Access is via local farms with permission.

    River Thurne

Short tidal river connecting several water courses. Important fishing. Good stretches of free Broadland fishing at Martham Ferry, Martham Boatyard and Potter Heigham.

    River Wensum

One of Norfolk's loveliest rivers although mainly privately controlled. Free fishing at Fakenham Common. Local tackle shops. For other access around the Broadland riversides contact local tackle shops.

    River Yare

Under-rated river, try Whitlingham, Surlingham Ferries, Buckenham, Cringleford Bridge. Permits for other areas from tackle shops in Norwich.

    Wroxham Broads

105 acres of good fishing. You can Launch from The Public Slip, Many fish from the Bank but is very shallow

  3. OK some details

All Fishermen over the age of 12 years old require a Fishing licence to fish on the Broads.

So if you are taking you young 10 year old out for a fish, he can have two lines and not require a licence.

    Some Dates:

    Coarse Fishing: 16th. June - 14th. March.

    Trout Fishing: 1st. April - 29th. October.

    Access / Licences

Anglers should ensure that they have the necessary permission to fish on privately owned water, those controlled by angling clubs or on banks of tidal waters. Fishing licences are required for every angler aged 12 years and over, for use of a maximum of two rods on each occasion.

Post Offices will supply the NRA National Fishing Licence Mon - Sat, or they can be purchased direct from the Environmental Agency 7 days a week.

The charge varying for annual non-concessionary or annual concessionary.

    The Environment Agency (Licensing Dept)

    Tel: 0870 1662662

    Website: http://www.environment-agency.gov.uk/fish

    Opening Hours: 0800am - 2000pm 7 days a week except Bank Holidays (0900am - 1700pm)

Payment by Credit Card or Direct Debit

Concessionary licences are available for anglers between 12-16 years old and for people over 60 years of age, or disabled persons.

Anglia Water has made a bylaw prohibiting the use of lead weights of more than 0.06 grams (no. 8 shot) up to and including 28.35 grams (1 ounce).

The Broads Authority Tel: 01603 610734

Please remember that discarded fishing line is a danger to wildlife and should be disposed of properly.

  4. After a Weekend at Sunny Hunny and watching so many off shore powerboats / Bayliners / Jetskis.

It looked fun but..... THeres not much to see :( It cost £50 to lauch and recover this was done for you using a tractor.

But after a few times up and down the costline at WOT they came back in.

Has anyone else been out to sea ?

  5. This is Griffin Marine's slip Another of my favorite slips.

Its the Only Public one i know of in The Norwich Area which is usable.

There is a little road beside the Griffin Pub just outside Thorpe St Andrew.

    A Sign Says " City Boats "

Go down the Lane and under the railway bridge.

Head towards the far left hand side of the large open space and then its the only boat yard in front of you.

Wide Wide Bayliner just gets through the bridge with about 3 inches to spare each side

Cost to launch and recover is £ 6.00 Parking is free but you do have to park in the large open space area.

  6. IT was a real pleasure turning on a pin head in front of Wroxham Bridge and also Potter Bridge.

    Being watched by many onlookers.

I took my time it must have looked like a elegant swan spinning slowly on the spot

The Engine had been restricted alot

I had many hire craft coming past me.

I think it revved up to 1800 RPM which was too noisy for a conversation.

So kept at 1200 Rpm all of the time ( this is when many others caught us up and overtook )

Operating from the Fly bridge was like nothing else i had experienced, My Daughter kept me company.

She loved the view overlooking all the other boats.

I must admit i also felt King of The Hill up there

  7. Sutton Staithe is one of my Favorites

This picture does not do it justice as it was taken when we had the floods of 2007.

    Its a concrete Slip.

It costs about £ 6 to launch and recover a 18 foot boat, and that includes parking !

The Picture shows a Hire craft using the Pump out area.

The Slip is next the the boat yard, if the boat yard is closed just post the money though the letterbox in a envelope.

    This slip is never locked.

It is signposted from the Stalham Bypass going towards Potter Heigham
