  1. There are only 3 drivers in the running for the championship this year and that is Hamilton, Rosberg & Vettel and my money is on Hamilton again. Poor old Jenson is out of it, with McClaren he isn't in the points yet and my guess is that this might be his last season in F1.

  2. Hi Geoff,

The pilot at Wroxham Bridge stops at 5.30pm from memory.

    cheers Iain

Thank's for that Iain, it all depends on what time we get away from Stalham. We are hoping to be at the yard before 12pm, so if the boat is ready and we get the third degree done with by 2pm, we might just make the pilot in time to get through the bridge, so we can moor up on the far side, ready for an early start up to Coltishall.

  3. Sorry Grace, I forgot my slippers and sandals.  Yes those will do me for a week. Light trainers for the boat, heavier designer (Nicky) trainer boots for walking, sandals if the weather is sunny and a pair of shoes for going to the pub at night. What more do I need? I don't wear flip flops, sandals with socks, wellies or hob nail boots.

  4. Is there any cure for Clock Watching

The day's seem to be going by so slowly, every time I look to see what what time it is, I'm sure my watch is going back instead of forward.

We are approaching the 4 days only time at midnight, so tomorrow it will be time to dig out the suitcases from the loft.

It will take Wendy at least three days, to make up her mind, as to what clothes she will be taking. Us blokes, don't have that problem. Five/six T shirts/shirts, 3 jumpers, 3/4 pairs of trousers, Two fleeces,thick/thin,  1 Waterproof coat, three pairs of shoes, enough socks and undies for seven days. Chuck em all in a holdall, job done in ten minutes. :clap

I must remember to take a few sleeping pills tonight, as due to all the excitement, I am lying awake half the night.

  5. Welcome Gareth,   :wave  Hope you had a great holiday, but it is customary, to tell us all about your holiday on this forum. Just scroll to the Holiday Tales where everyone will be waiting.

  6. We might bump into you Dave, (well not actually into your boat) if you are in the North somewhere next week. We are staying in the North all week, heading for Coltishall on the first day (Friday) if we can get through Wroxham bridge before the pilot finishes for the day. If so, we will moor up at Wroxham.

  7. Hi Simon

What an excellent account of your weeks holiday and thank you for sharing. It's nice when people share their holiday experience, as it is almost like being there yourselves, taking in all the places you can visit during the week. cheers

As you are aware, this will be our very first Broads holiday, which makes it even more exciting for us to look forward to. I am sure from what we have seen and read in all these holiday blogs, we are in for a great holiday. Just hoping for nice weather.  :bow

We will certainly be doing our own holiday blog, the first of many more to come, once we get back home and It will be nice to share it with you all.  :arms:

  8. Geoff & Wendy,

Please remind us all of when and where you are going on holiday? just in case we forget, was it one of those Wallace Arnold tours :naughty:

    Regards

    Alan

days before we get the coach to Norfolk for our Wallace Arnold boating holiday, or was it Shearings! I'm getting all confused again. I have a brochure here that says Richardson's and I am sure we are driving there in the car. Or did Wendy mention we might get the bikes out and....... Oh sorry that was this afternoon, or is that tomorrow. I'm sure I remeber something about the stars, oh yes, that's it!  The boat Star Gem, I remember now, we are going to Stalham in the car, to Richardson's boat yard, to have a week's holiday on a coach, I mean boat!

Really Alan, what made you mention Wallace Arnold, never met the guy, does he own a boat or something. Anyway just to refresh my memory.

    Friday April 17th 2015

7 days holiday on the Norfolk Broads aboard Star Gem 6.

Just remind me on Thursday evening in case It slips my mind, as we need to set the alarm clock for an early start on Friday.

  9. We took the kids to Beachy Head today for lunch and a walk, that's no mean feat in 6" heels I can tell you Lol, and you should try kicking a ball in em, the boys said I should sit and watch, I got the feeling they were a tad embarrassed, I really can't think why :naughty:

    Grace

p.s No that's not me Geoff, not a pink wellie in sight Lol

Oops!  :nosey: Should have gone to Specsavers. I was going off the red hair Grace in your avitar, but it is a bit small to make any comparison.

  10. Hi Steve

Brilliant write up of your four day break, with lots to say although the weather was a bit rough for you. You can now say you are definitely experienced boat handlers. :Stinky  Half of my garden fencing got damaged during those strong winds, so at the moment they have been repaired and propped up, before having them replaced after our holiday.

  11. Being an ex truck driver and visited Norwich many times, I know my way around the inner ring. I used to deliver to the Airport Industrial Estate and can remember there used to be an indoor go kart track on that estate. It may not be there any more, as it is over ten years since I was last there.

Mentioning a previous post, about cars on the right hand lane, squeezing in at road works, reminds me of my trucking days.

Signs reminding drivers to filter into the left lane are usually placed at least half a mile away, but you always get the smart a-r-s-e's, who come up the right hand lane, causing hold ups by pushing in at the front of the queue.

To prevent this, truckers would move along both lanes, side by side, to stop this, thus keeping the traffic moving. Then just as the lanes merge into one, the left hand lane truck driver would allow you to move in front of him. This prevented car drivers behind you from jumping the queue. Of course, this only applies to dual carriageways, but it can keep traffic moving at the front of the queue.
