Can anybody recommend a site where I can get tide tables for Gt Yarmouth for September 2012.
Am I correct in thinking that slack water Yarmouth yacht station is an hour after low water Yarmouth?
Looking to hire mid to late September, I'm missing my boat very much after having sold her in April 2011.

Not flying until after midday just to be sure.

Don't say that John, I'm flying on the 13th (a Friday) weather permitting!!!

Merry Christmas from all of us to all of you.
We decided to go the royal route and opened our pressies last night. Busy packing the car with the kitchen sink ready to get to the mayhem that is the Grandchildren.

Chicken plucked, half its innards in the bucket and Dad with his hand up its backside removing the rest of the entrails when he must have touched the vocal chords and it started to cluck!!!. Also the horrible smell of what was in the bucket. Oh yes, I remember it well!!

What about the compulsary nugget of coal in the sock, making our own decorations - you remember the taste of the glue on the paperchains, roasting chestnuts on an open fire - no radiators in those days.

Thanks to all for your input. Will post details of dates when SWMBO tells me when we can go. Hope to meet up with some of you then. Brain J.

I am thinking of hiring early next year - March, April time - and would like opinions on whether to hire south or north. SWMBO would like to be able to see more than reedbeds from a single level boat. Which would be more scenic and have a good number of Broads/villages to visit?
I have been used to the Thames, cruising on my Freeman 23 - alas now sold. We would only be hiring for one week and do not wish to rush about motoring all day, 2 - 3 hours a day would be plenty.
All advice welcome. Brian J.

Just a quick post to wish everyone at the party a very good evening. Sorry I can't be there, but I'm sure that the post party comments will be very entertaining. Have a beer -or three - for me. Brian J.

I was lead to believe that £35.00 of the BSS was for the cost of the certificate, so the actual test itself is considerably cheaper. Brian J.

I'm afraid she has her heart set on a 'romantic' weekend in Devon. Quite where the romance is going to come from at my age ( 70 ish ) I don't really know, especially as I'm going to miss the party in Norfolk.

Hi all, I was hoping to drive up from Surrey for this event but SWMBO vetoed the idea just because it's our wedding anniversary - what a spoilsport! After all we have been married for over 42 years, hasn't there been enough anniversaries so that I could miss one? Brian J.

We are going on holiday to the north coast of Cornwall next week!! Should get a few good clips / photos of breaking seas on the camcorder ( not literally).
I suppose that it just means that we will have to suffer some investigations into the local ale situation. Shame! Brian J.

I always used to believe that the quickest way to lose friend was to have discussions about politics and religion. Enough said?

O.A.P. with bad back and dodgy knees who loves to fly light aircraft, go on holiday a lot, sail a 10 metre Banshee catamaran in the Solent and near continent and spend time with the grandkids.

A friend of mine buys cooking oil from the supermarket at about 78p a litre and mixes it with diesel in a ratio of about 4-5 litres of oil to a tankful. He is running a Rover with a BMW engine and tells me that at MOT time the tester told him that his emissions were very low and the engine one of the cleanest that they had seen (for the year). His fuel cunsumption figures were a lot better too. Please bear in mind that this information is second hand and I cannot vouch for its authenticity.

The anti cavitation plate should be under the water. It is to stop too much air forming around the prop meaning that the prop is in water and propelling the boat and not in a mixture of air and water, thus reducing its efficiency.

Hi Ghosty, If you PM me and do not get a reply, it's because I am away on holiday between 24th May and about 10th June.
