At least the engine revved up and stopped, with a sump full of fuel it could have ran away with itself and done a proper destruction job, fresh oil and a pump rebuild and it'll probably be fine, worth having injectors done at the same time I would think.

At least new seals should be able to cope with modern diesel better.

This happened to me and it was rather frightening. Only managed to stop engine when a friend covered air intake. In retrospect not the safest thing to do. After spending quite a bit on trying to get engine working again gave up and invested in a new Nanni.

  2. I think the are you are describing is what is known as Slot's Hole next to Malthouse lane (or hill) which is the track that goes up from the Castle Moorings

The following is an extract from the Wroxham history website https://wroxhamhistory.wordpress.com/

Which is a great site if you are interested in the history of Wroxham.

Since the 1950s photograph of the Caen Meadow appeared on the cover of the August 2016 edition of The Bridge magazine there has been some dispute about Nick Walmsley’s reference to “Slot’s Hole”, the more common name for Malthouse Hill – with local old-timers claiming it to be Sotts Hole or even Shotts Hole. Checking the 1871 census returns for Wroxham [transcribed by Rose French for the St Faiths District in August 2000] I found it listed against William Ives, 23, malster, and others who lived or worked there, as Sotts Holeimage.png.34aacd0659d71a4e9cc22e7c5aa93e42.png

  3. Unfortunately our race finished prematurely when tree jumped out and hit us!

We were going fairly well up to that point having done both legs and making it slowly through Potter where the tide was ebbing very strongly

  4. Thank you for all the replies.

The artist was born in 1907 so possible it is even earlier than I thought and certainly looking at the lack of trees and foliage its possible. The mill in question would have probably also deteriorated quite a bit. I have been looking on Google Earth and both suggestions made would probably work but without seeing the topography of the land is difficult to say.I must admit before posting this I was leaning towards a generic Broadland scene.

My father had an art supplies shop in Norwich from the 1950-1980's and I always understood he had obtained it from the artist as the result of some barter arrangement.

  5. I have a watercolour picture by Leslie L H Moore that I inherited from my father and I have been trying to identify the location. Does anybody have any ideas?

The image is not great due to glass reflection but there is a church tower in the lower right back ground and I think it was probably painted in the 1950/60's

    many thanks Kevin

The Vulnerable to the virus are in group six, so there's a way to go, between 1.5 million and 8 million still in front of me.. According the the online guesser of when I'll get the vaccine..

There have now been studies that show, there is a 60% less chance of passing the virus on if Vaccinated..

I am in group 6 and had a text to book for Wednesday morning at Hoveton Village Hall.

So probably not as long as you thought to wait.

I see that Sally is still registered with the River Cruiser Class, and has a racing handicap.

She has unfortunately been out of the water for the last couple of years and I believe is in need of some remedial work doing. Prior to this she was still racing regularly.

  8. We spent the night on Bargate last week and we draw 4 feet so you should not have a problem with depth. As has been said there is quite a bit of weed so we did need to do a bit of weed clearance after we had left by running prop in forward and reverse as has also been mentioned. We did not have to get our bent stick out which is our fall back for clearing the prop.

  9. Just a couple of things to add regarding Wroxham Regatta. Some times they go for a down broad start  from a floating platform just inside the up river entrance to the broad. The cruisers are racing around midday and 6pm as there will probably be over 30 boats out it does get a bit congested so probably best to avoid around these times unless you want to see the action in which case it is best to drop a mud weight at either end of the broad well away from any buoys with flags on them.
