    Not on certain lakes.

And I think there are some old canal type waters down in Kent that are private and don't have a close season as they aren't classed as proper waterways anymore.

Mark , what I meant was " Rules still apply " with still and enclosed waters having their own ,......

Somehow I don't think "Thermal Underwear " will help in getting your glider off the ground :4_joy:

They brought about their own demise, as those in the know are aware. I shall say no more.

They did too from what I heard.  Made me feel somewhat sorry for Alpha Senior

So what happened ? Or is it a secret , and if you told me you would have to kill me :default_2gunsfiring_v1:

I am really looking forward to this winter as I have reduced my working hours. The boat is now in 'winter configuration' but will be hopefully getting a lot of use between now and the start of next season. I say hopefully because we don't know what sort of winter is in store but I am hoping for plenty of crisp bright days.

And me matey , and me ...... :default_beerchug:

I haven't had a bad life, have few regrets, in truth I would wish to come back as myself. However I would like to be able to time travel, back to a time when the Broads was a vibrant holiday destination, when there was more of a 'we are all in this together' attitude to boating, a more carefree chapter both in my life and the Broads itself.

I'm with you Jenny on that one :default_beerchug:

    Dave, hi.

That's because the computer makes anyone over 50 posts into a generic full member. You'll see that your status (below your avatar pic) is still Members until you have been proposed & seconded in Full Members. That is presently ongoing.

I got me one of these, brilliant best investment living "in the country" I ever made, makes me jump when one of the flying beasties meets their demise though.

A bit like Taser for insects!!!!!!!

    Capture.JPG

Could do with one of these for " My-Newt " ...... Our moorings are close to Cantley sugar factory and we get inundated with wasps and hornets :default_2gunsfiring_v1:

I have most of a bottle of 1970's vintage Brut if anyone would like it. Tried it once, and the dog wasn't too keen either.

Back in the day , most of the lads wore " Brut " and the girls wore " Gingham "

For the City dwellers amongst you here is a picture of a 'honey cart' discharging its cargo. It's what makes your Norfolk produced food grow so well and taste so good.

When my kids were young , we always associated the manure and slurry smells , being city folk , with holidays ....... I'd wind the car window down, take a deep breath , and tell the kids it was good for your chest :default_blush:

  13. Just home from an eventful weekend down at Langley on " My-Newt "  ... Arrived early Friday morning to be greeted by a high tide and flooded moorings , but we soldiered on and went in , shin deep into icy cold water , to get aboard . Got the boat into running order , and off climbed the wife , back into said icy water , to untie ..... Ropes were frozen solid , so after standing in shin deep water AGAIN , she then spent 10 minutes trying to free the ropes ..... Once untied I headed into the main river to turn round so I could head up the dyke to the car park , only to lose forward power from my outboard . I had reverse , so turned the wheel hard to port and went round in circles , while I had a look to see if I could spot the problem . No joy so I had to reverse back downstream and into the dyke to my mooring again , wife got soaked for a second time . Finally sorted it after a bit of fettling and ventured back into the river , only to lose steering . Back to the inspection hatch and more fettling while drifting along with the tide . Sorted that , and headed back to car park to load up , only to remember I'd forgotten to stop at the petrol station for fuel for the outboard and Loddon Staithe for water . So back in the car to Loddon ,  while wife sorts out stowing usual sundry items associated with boating . Friday evening was then spent chilling with a glass or two of Port , bliss . We were then joined on Saturday morning by our friends Gary and Pam on their boat Fly Eagle , and had a lovely run up to Surlingham Ferry for dinner ,  an overnight stop and breakfast Sunday morning . Woke up to a beautiful Broads morning , and after  said brekky , set off back downriver in brilliant sunshine and very little wind . Perfect boating conditions .... A few beers before settling  down for the night, only to be woken by rain hammering on the roof , but by the time we'd had a brew the rain had stopped and we were able to load the car and put My -Newt back on her moorings and head off on our 5 hour drive home ....... Thank you Norfolk for another great weekend , see you next month :-)

    Good point Ricardo!

We have had a spate of vigilante parish councils in Lincolnshire recently which has ended abruptly with an accident. Some clown with a speed gun bought on eBay for ninety quid, stepped into the road to point his speed gun at an approaching car. He stepped in front of a cyclist who had to swerve to miss him and was clipped by the oncoming car. The car was not speeding. The cyclist has a broken pelvis, leg, skull fractures and broken wrist. An accident caused by an unqualified interfering busybody.

We have highly trained, dedicated, and underpaid, police officers whose job it is to police the laws of this country. As citizens, it is our job to obey the law, teach our children to obey the law, support our police officers and make sure our policemen and women have the resources and financial rewards required to do their job safely and to the high standards that they hold themselves.  Simple. No eBay required.

As the saying goes " A little knowledge is a dangerous thing " ..... Or in this case " No knowledge "
