I have no idea, I wasn't taking much notice of my surroundings in 1950.

Hi Ray
Yes a very dubious group of 16 year year old budding thugs. I think Landamores
allowed us out was we were underwritten by my parents . Those were the days
when all male crews were still persona grata.

April 1950 See photos I was born May 1949 I was introduced to the Broads that's me
nearest the the camera.
We hired from Windboats in those day my Father's sister and family used to take Monach.
The second photo is at age 16 in my first hire in Vestella 7, the parents were good
repeat customers of Landamores by then so they allowed me to hire in my own right
parents of course paid and were on a Vesta.

I have never actually been sea sick but once whilst below off the Deben bar in a Nantucket Clipper I did feel queasy when below.
The above mentioned boat for those who don't remember them this one and a fewb others were built by Jack Powles in Wroxham an Alan Buchanan design I think.

I bet the parasites will want at least a £ million for their trouble, if not more.

To give you an idea of a poorly maintained varnished hull, and why they then paint them white.
These photos are 20 years apart.
Great thread Socrates, brings back too many memories, I remember painting the T&G for the galley came back the next day and the snow had come in the roof, so I had to start again.

It would seem to they have half an hour to get the length of the harbour. Shouldn't be a problem.

Polly I am almost sure we will be in attendance on Star Premiere, probably
just Alan and myself. I will confirm later. Fri, Sat maybe Sun

Most of this is going over my head, not an unusual state of affairs, but I am still envious of the trip for which I wish you all bon voyage and see you in Norfick in the near future.

Socratese so good to see you are still up dating us with you work on your iconic Ripple craft.
Your are making me relive the ups and downs of restoring these old bits of history.
Somewhere I have photos of our cabin sides being done but cannot find them at present. I do
remember the front having to be clamped to get the curve right . The windows are old coach
windows wind up and down, these were very problematic to seal.
Keep up the good work and make yourself known at Beccles I will be on Emily B. this year.
