  1. Could it have been The Eagle at Neatishead, though it wasn't a river as such I believe the garden backed onto the top end of Like Kiln Dyke, if memory serves me right.

Also it appears  sparkling water. Today there was none.Trust the media they never let us down.Lets report shortages around  the clock, then watch the public rush to buy up stuff, then good old media can report empty  shelves etc.

This shortage was planned, some weeks ago one of the supermarkets said that rather than have a load that is heavy for it's volume, they would rather load up the lorries with lighter more essential items, therefore getting more on the lorry.

Personally I think buying bottled water a total waste of money, and plastic!

  3. If they have a refund on their bottles, just like lemonade bottles in the old days , they would get most of them back. The trouble is, that unless you have the original purchase paperwork they will not refund. How many people keeper that paperwork? Not that many.

  4. I think there are still plenty of people who could stand those sort of hours, but when they see their earnings disappear in increasingly higher rents from the greedy pubcos, that's what deters them.

  5. If you don't see a hygiene rating at a food outlet, beware, it probably means it is low and they are too ashamed to display it.

If Norada is a 4 rating then he will have been given the official sign to display, so display it.

An old theme but an important one.
The lack of mooring and what I consider, the disappearing basics, water, fuel and pump outs at easy to access points.
Wondered why the BA can’t run a sort of service station for boats.
As to mooring, the loss of those smallest yards has really added to the problem and I don’t think it’s ever going to be solved

In 1969 there were some 22 hirefleet yards in Wroxham/Hoveton, all offering mooring, water and fuel. Now there are 2. All those moorings are now private properties. The same applies to all the other Broadland towns and villages.

Same old story seen here too!!!! Do not people realise just how easy it is to turn a boat those bits of string boats have at the bow and stern???

All this to effort and hassle to do it with the engine - I reckon I could turn it on ropes, and probably  in the dyke with most boats in around 2 mins flat and no sweat, hassle or noise at all!!! Boats float and are so easy to turn with ropes if the width is only marginally wider than the boat is long - why do not people realise this? Or do they think it is the macho thing to hammer backwards and forwards causing issues?

I say it so many times but people will not listen!!!!!!!

As you suggested earlier. Some people seem to think it a stigma to been seen turning the boat by ropes.

And what about "Can I get" meaning "May I have"

You hear it all the time, in the pub, can I get a pint of bitter, if I was the barperson I would reply, 'no, I get the pint, you pay for it'.

Our village local, It needs a lot of money spending on it to bring it up to today’s standards. We used to go in regular on a Friday night but wouldn’t dare take the Mrs in 😀

What do you mean by bringing up to today's standards, rip the guts out of it and ruin it?  It needs a large extension being built out the back to increase the covers for eating. As it is at the moment you could not afford a half decent chef with the number of covers.

Unfortunately the pub was leased out to Tipples brewery, but things didn't work out very well. Then covid struck and Terry has decided to sell th Bell and concentrate on his pub in Lingwood.

A community pub  would be a good idea, it is an Asset of Community Value, as long as Salhouse parish council aren't involved, but that's another story.
