  1. Thanks so much for your helpful reply Andy - much appreciated.
  2. Can I pick your brains, please? I'm going to require a tow at the end of July from Stalham - Brundall. Possibly starting from Acle - Brundall. Any recommendations for a two abreast tow trip ££ quote very gratefully received. Any companies that you've used and would recommend would be great. Thanks a lot. Edward
  3. https://bonditocoogeewalk.com/ Wonder if you remember the original Icebergs at Bondi South end? It was a bit rickety, Crittall windows, pokies, meat raffle and all. But that bar on a Friday night straight after work.......... A few schooners of icy VB. Especially if there were high winds coming in off the ocean. Legend.....................
  4. I lived at Tamarama, apartment looking out to sea. I used to follow the fishing fleet through binocs and when they turned home for Pyrmont I'd get in the car and drive down to the market, arriving at the same time as the boats. What a great way to get your lunch. Glass of something fine, white and icy. Excellent! Happy days!
  5. Australia is a cracking country. NSW, Victoria, South Australia, all brilliant. Moreton Bay Bugs are absolutely delicious eating. I spent a lot of time on Kangaroo Island fishing. Lived in Sydney for a few years. Favourite restaurant is Catalina, Rose Bay. No visits lately - hopefully soon though.
  6. Dear Chris, Thanks so much for your reply, and suggestion, which I'll look into. Absolutely 100% agree with you about looking in person. Can't get to Norfolk for a few weekends though, so thought I'd attempt it by remote control - especially as only a temp arrangement. Really appreciate your message. Looks like you might be a Sydneysider? If so, here's a memory! Cheers! Edward
  7. I wonder if such a thing exists? For reasons of easy access - the prospect of having a confirmed mooring above P.H. bridge for the months of June, July and August really appeals. I'm happy to pay for longer than this if required. I have an absolutely terrific mooring on the Ant which I'm keeping, but for the Summer months this year, when the Broads will be really busy, I'd like to get under the bridge, stay there for the Summer, and explore the waters at that end. I checked with Martham Boats, they have a 12m minimum contract - which I've asked them to price. Haven't heard back yet. Somewhere where I can hook up to power from time to time, and where it'll be safe to leave the boat during the week. Just for the Summer months this year, absolutely happy to pay. And then back to my regular mooring at the end of the Summer. If anyone has any suggestions, they'd be very gratefully received. Kindest regards, Edward
  8. Many thanks - much appreciated. I just sourced something a little similar from Captain Watts, https://captainwatts.co.uk/teak/brass-switched-lights-102mm-12v Not exactly the same - but in a pinch ............ Appreciate your info. Just Googled your boat. What a beauty she is. Here's a random question. Is there such a thing as someone who specialises in redesigning galleys and heads? As the available space is so limited, the challenge is to source the right appliances and fittings to maximise every inch. Just a thought.
  9. I need a complete rewire, I think. I'd like to keep the original light fittings, but add concealed LED strips. Both cabins need brightening up a bit.
  10. Hi everyone, Does anyone know if these light fittings are still available anywhere? Long shot as I think they are original to the 1950s. Any information or leads, very gratefully received. With thanks, Edward
  11. Thanks very much. That's exactly what I'm hoping to achieve.
  12. Can I ask you to share some of your knowledge, please? I was on a different woody the other day, and noticed a good sized hatch had been added to the cabin roof, fore and aft. The difference in light they made was remarkable. I'd be really interested to get a quote(s) to explore doing the same. Both of my cabins, fore and aft, are a smidge on the gloomy side. Many thanks, Edward
  13. Hello there, Just tuned in and read this. Dawn Star passed into my ownership in September of this year. She has an electric power unit, this was fitted quite a few years ago now. I started to look at ways and means to upgrade, change batteries, with a view to increasing both torque and range. I've set this aside now until next Spring. Concentrating on more immediate repairs and modifications. I did get a quote from an extremely reputable source. Eyewatering.
  14. I guess it'll be interesting to see where power, water, pump out will be available. A voyage of discovery!
  15. A-Ha! This is really practical advice! Thank you!
  16. This year particularly, being on the Broads has a lot of appeal.
  17. I wonder how many other boaters will be out and about this Christmas?
  18. Interesting. I'll see if I can sneak under, on the day. A Christmas wish!
