  1. Here's what to look out for if you want to venture down Catfield Dyke.

    From the main channel in Hickling broad, it's apparently neccessary to be dead in line with the channel markers before making a 90 degree turn into the marked channel to Catfield.

Good base if you want to be able to cruise all year round - winter icing does occur in the marina basins but not seen on the main river in author's memory. HEATED TOILET/SHOWER BLOCK OPEN ALL YEAR.

    Cons: Long term construction work. Unattractive until landscaping work commences.

    STALHAM MOORINGS GENERAL INFO

    Supermarket, Petrol Station and all other local services a short walk into the village

    Special note re winter cruising:-

    Stalham's location at the end of the system means river icing along a large stretch can curtail winter cruising more than areas with stronger tidal action / river flow. Planning required in cold conditions due to a strong prospect of not being able to return to berth. Winter icing rarely extends more than a few feet inside the wet shed at Richardsons.
