  1. Simple answer then, we will not be drawn in to a discussion that discloses the workings of the team. I guess I could say that if one person acted alone and the rest of the team disagreed then they would not be a team, would they? as in the first sentance we will not be drawn further other than to say I have noticed no discord in team recently.

  2. This all takes me back to my early years and I for one will be so interested to see the progress of the restoration thread that I'm sure will now be started, bloody well done matey and any help I can offer (though remotely) you only have to ask, I have loads of end of spool cabling, connectors, junctions and other electrical stuff that I am happy to pop in a jiffy bag for you, just ask as the need arises. This kind of thing is at the heart of what this forum is about, well in my view anyway.

  3. I have stayed out of this so far, but would like to ask one question....

Is it a team (all mods) decision to ban a person, or can one person just do it.....

Does the person about to be banned, have a chance to explain their posts, or are they just banned....

I have at all times Modded myself, typed something and about to post but thought against it...

    cheersbar

Again Geoff, that is team room business and can not be disclosed, we have confidentiallity in there too, I can't remember a major disagreement among us about banning anybody though.

  4. seems like these things get discussed behind closed doors more and more the only thing i would say is there should be a more formal system of a warning in open forum so peeps can get the jist instead of left guessing.

Of course they are discussed behind closed doors Dave, that's because they are private and have nothing at all to do with anybody, and are nobody's business but the party involved and admin. Also worth noting that any sleeper usernames the banned member may have registered will be banned too as may their ISP as it is the user that is banned not the username an using such a name would be totaly underhand, as would re registering.

  5. Unfortunately John, you will only ever get one side of the story because as I have and am tired of saying, we will never discuss or disclose members details of any sort, period. As for banning and I refer to no specific case here, it is interesting that some people banned on here have already been banned from another forum and been welcomed here. That tells me a lot, bannings on here are almost always not the result of one specific incident (unless that is a deliberate breach of trust of members only area) but an accumulation.

  6. If it's happened abruptly rather than gradually it sounds like an airlock Frank, you will have a header tank, either seperate or combined with the heat exchanger so just look for a radiator cap and you can check the level there, cold of course, they can sometimes be awkward to bleed through but perseverence and sometimes even fitting a bleed screw on the outlet to the calorifier is needed.

  7. That's good as they have formed a framework of some good debate. Would also echo the points about reasons etc on the forum. Apart from the legal and professional implications It would be quite wrong to post comment of any sort when there is no right of reply.

Indeed Gav, and it is admin that suffer because of our own refusal to move from respecting confidentiality and not discuss such issues, it means that only one side of a story can be heard, but we have to live with that as respecting confidentiality is sacrosanct here, as I said, no point in discussing it as there can be no "informed" discussion.

  8. If the trailer (assuming it’s a boat trailer and not a flat bed) is a hire one it will most likely be adjusted for the last boat that used it so make sure you adjust the side rollers or skids so that the weight is on the keel rollers and only supported from falling over by the side ones or you may damage the boat.

  9. Your business Clive, your choice and it would obviously affect the bottom line due to the cost, I do understand that some insurers do give sizeable discounts for gas free craft though and I bet your premium is the size of a small country's GDP. On the minus side gas is simple and familiar for people to operate so probably gives less problems all round on a hire craft with multiple users.

  10. Thanks

I thought the answer would probably be BER due to needing a new control board. I take it there are not likely to be any serviceable/testable components/tracks on the board that typically might have failed - I haven't opened it to look.

It is actually wired via the battery isolator, but I was planning to fit a dedicated switch this weekend as a more usable workaround anyway.

The hull needed a lot of planks this winter, so I don't think she has enough brownie points to get a new heater for a bit!

There are some servicable parts inside, but not worth the candle really, in my view your direction is more than acceptable given the situation, but don't tell Webasto :naughty: ..

  11. It's locking out for some reason, the removal of all power resets it, unfortunately control box parts for this model are now very scarce and it's not really worth the several hundred you would pay for a new control box if you could find one so you may have to live with it until it finaly dies.

It is not reccomended (and I certainly did not recommend it) but you could put a make / break switch in the supply to make resetting easier.

  12. Absolutely Geoff, and I can't agree more about the ongoing training, even at my age I still do it to keep up with developments, in fact just next week I'm off on an advanced NMEA course, I believe my customers deserve it and I know I will learn and be able to provide a better service. Eats into my bottom line but I have developed the business model to support it, something else I learned to do through training.
