senator
I am sure that someone here knows the answer but why is Breydon Bridge manned 24/7 when Haven bridge is not? I could understand it the other way round in that most leisure boats coming back from sea will require Haven lifting but many will fit through Breydon. If going onto the northern Broads it is irrelevant as if you can fit through Yarmouth bridges then you don't need Haven lifting either. So why pay wages to man Breydon bridge when nothing is going to need it that doesn't need Haven lifting and Haven only opens 3 times a day if you are lucky? And while we are at it why do the bridges in Yarmouth not operate on a time table like Lowestoft, giving Leisure boats a choice of entrance/exit and drivers a chance to plan their journey around the times they know the bridge will be open. thirdmate
Haven bridge doesn't have the luxury of a control room/bedroom/bath/etc
Guest
Good point Ian but the answer is probably just because it is. Speaking of bridges shall we get one booked for next Saturday at 1100 we could have a stop in Lowestoft before carrying on to Southwold. I'll book a bridge in my name as it might be best if you stay Clandestine we don't want them dropping it on us .
