Rust stain on the deck,,

Ok boys and girls! on my new old boat, I have several rust stains where the mudweights have been, I've heard Oxalic acid is the way to get them out, but does it actualy work, or is there a better way to remove them???

Yes Frank.

 

It certainly does work. Its available on Ebay, and its as cheap as chips!

 

Just dilute in water and apply.  It come with instructions. I tend to mix with water. Then make it weaker or stronger depending how severe it is.  Make sure you wash it well afterwards with fresh water. I suggest rubber gloves, and eye protection when using it.

Thank you Maurice, I've used it for bleaching wood, but I see to remember it was good for removing rust stains on GRP,,

Yes Frank I have used it on wood too with good results. with rust the results are very dramatic! I have even removed rust stains from a sail using a weak solution,
