  3. Brian, I forgot to mention that you may be better setting up the NBN BBQ camp behind the private moorings area on the staithe, where there is less overhang and debris falling from the trees right now, as they start to shed leaves and seeds for the winter Im still clearing silver birch seeds out of the caravan from last time we were down, they get into every nook and cranny possible, and are probably not so tasty as Burger Relish! Julz

  10. A friend of mine used to own one of the timber framed coachbuilt double deckers that dated back to the 40's, it was part of the Blue bus company fleet based at Willington in its day, but was sadly burned down in a depot fire when the entire fleet was distroyed, including some fine old coaches simlar to the one in the picture during the late 70's. Sadly the owner was under-insured and was unable to continue running the Blue Bus company that had been such a popular site around the Southern Derbyshire villages The thing i remeber most about them was the upstairs seats were in a row of four, rather like a big sofa, and local rumour had it that because of this they were prone to being used by the local tramps at night to sleep on, as their open backs where the passengers boarded made access very easy indeed, and it could well have been a tramp that started the fire aboard one that lead to the entire fleet going up in smoke at the depot, which was just basically an office, workshop and open yard, with very little security compared to what they would have had today. I believe a couple of their busses did survive purely by chance that they had broken down in Derby, and had been towed to the council depot at the time of the fire. Julz
  11. That will do fine Jimbo, but 'The more the Merrier' with tables, but i fully understand if you dont want to use it if its rather wet and muddy out there on the day, especially if its part of your boat's furnishings Julz
  12. What we really need guys is a table similar size to a wallpaper pasteing table, only a bit stronger than the Basic flimsy ones, so we can use it rather like a counter I can bring a big waterproof tablecloth if we can get one of these tables, although the more we can get the better really, it will give us more space for putting things on in the cooking area thanks Julz
  13. Thanks Mark, I have started packing the gear into the car and the boot is full already! We have been doing a bit of Burger and Sausage sampling and have now ordered some nice fresh good quality ones to be be collected the day before the bash, along with the rest of the rolls and baps, on our way up from the South Its all coming together well now Julz
  14. Ok then Jonny It Starts at 12.30pm on the Sunday, so that means a very early start for you, so dont have too much Pop at the Wedding the night before lol Julz
  15. If anyone has got a large folding table that we could Borrow for the BBq, to be used to serve the food off, put the bags of baps and general lightweight stuff on, it would be very much apprieciated thanks Julz
  16. The Gourmet Burgers are quite yummy too, I actually prefared them to the Steak for a change Julz

  18. Well actually St Olaves is in Suffolk, but for a fleeting moment i thought i may just have traced the guy whom i looked after as a newborn, and pushed in his pram along the towpath of the Haddiscoe New cut, back in the year around 1968. His name was Andrew James Robinson, but as he grew up he was known as James, or Jamesey as a toddler, and was the youngest of 5 children at the time, hence when i spotted the JA Robinson screen name, i thought that there may be a slim possibility that it was you Like you say though, it is quite a commonly found name... My father lost touch with them when they eventually moved to Norwich, but i often wondered what became of them and what the tiny baby grew up to be, and where he is now Julz
  19. JA, are you any relation to the Robinson family who owned the chalet park at St Olaves back in the late 1960s, and were the people responsible for digging out the Yacht basin near St Olaves Bridge, Now part of St Olaves Marina? Julz

  21. Ok, thanks for letting us know, maybe meet you someother time next season Julz
  22. Geoff, was that you we spotted playing footy with your lad down at Ranworth last week? We did a fair bit of B.A spotting whilst we were down, and Bill walked by her moored at Ludham bridge, The Swan, and Ranworth, but were not sure who's who of her crew! Julz
  23. Indeed it is strange, as one of the worst cases of heavy wash i ever witnessed on the Broads came from a fairly new faircraft duel steer design which was bows lifted almost up onto the plain just down south of St Bennetts abbey I wonder if some yards fit restrictors to hirecraft to prevent speeding, where as some others leave them set rather higher? Some boats that we have briefly tried out on Breydon for power have indeed had the capacity to move at quiet a speed, the fastest one we ever tried was Brinks Omega, which i believe is a Haines design, where as others it was more like trying to build up speed in a bathtub with a paddle against an incoming tide. Julz
  24. Mark, maybe we were just unfortunate enough to get a drop of the rough stuff The first time we sampled Ouzo it was served out of a plastic gallon container at one of those beach parties organised by the holiday reps, whilst staying on the island of Aegina, and it certainly didnt taste anything like anaseed, which i actually quite like. The idea was to get everyone merry as quickly as possible, so the stuff was served in large paper cups along with a BBq of Sausages, pork chops and salad, so not much in the way of starchy foods to soak up the alcohol. My eldest daughter was 10 at the time, and managed to slyly drink everyone elses abandoned disliked leftovers, thinking it was Big to be a crafty boozer behind Mum and Dads back, as they thought that she was actually drinking Pepsi Needless to say she suffered badly for it, and experianced her very first hang over that kept her in bed for the next day whilst her sisters were out having fun in the nice warm clear waters down at the Marina Im more of a Kalua girl myself, or Hot Choccy with Brandy Julz
  25. Corfu airport has a simular landing strip, but perhaps not quite so severe Perhaps the Greeks build them that way to scare the passengers into wanting to drink more Ouzo when they land, its such foul stuff (a cross between pine disinfectant and parafin) that they have to do something to sell more to the poor unsuspecting visitor Julz
