Can you tell me how you know one of them isn’t an idiot?

Safety is obviously paramount, but apparently it’s safe to put an idiot with no boating experience whatsoever, at the helm of a 6 ton 45 foot monster after a 10 minute “handover”

    That is “safe” is it.

the same as it is to put an idiot in the driving seat of a car on the motorway, with no experience  whatsoever of motorway driving, after 0 minutes handover......

Sorry, but to call every first time hirer, or even hirers who have just decided to get a bigger boat an idiot is very wrong.......

Oh I see so that makes everything OK then , because direct family arnt going to be affected that's fine eh , what about the hire boater ( or anyone else ) that gets caught up in this n without any fault of their own gets involved in a,serious incident .

Then again I guess that's my biggest failing/ asset ( dependent on ones opinion ) I tend to think of others as much as I think of myself .

to be VERY blunt, I don't care what you think.....

If you want to put your own slant on my posting, please feel free to do so....

BUT, please let me know by quoting what I said in my post, where I said it was OK....

An interesting point of view of swimming in the Waveney.

    Yes very interesting....

that was one or two swimming, not 200.....

    My view is.....

Not going to be there, not bothered, none of my family or close friends will be there, so again not bothered.

If people want to take the risk, it's up to them, but as my dad used to say, if you climb that tree, fall out and break your leg, Don't come running to me crying.

  5. Oh dear

    I think therefore I am........

I think Densil and Que Veggie are idiots (insert forum names of your choice, they are just two that came to mind), but that won't stop me letting them buy me a pint, if I ever catch them.

I also think that the world is square, not round or flat that others think, they are idiots too.

We all have views, some better than others, depends on where you live, I can see a park from my house, others can see a river..

Do we argue or DISCUSS the better view......

Are we adults or children, sometimes I have to think, pram, toys, bully, playground.

We all have views, but let me tell you this......

MINE IS THE ONLY ONE THAT COUNTS......

ooopppps, sorry caps lock stuck... or did it.......

    PS.....

this has been a long weekend....

  6. BA OFFICIAL WEB SITE, AUGUST 2018......

Due to the overwhelming support and success of the "River Swim" this year we can announce that next years swim will be even better, as we will have FULL NATIONAL PARK STATUS meaning no boats will get in the way of the swimmers. There will be no need to do a risk assessment on problems with boaters, as there will be none, and the entrance fee will only rise to £12,900 per swimmer, just to cover loss in revenue from tolls.

Hope to see you at next years event

  7. if you assume...

it makes an ASS out of U and ME .

But, as a hirer (experienced/novice... delete one), when I hire I think that every vessel coming towards me or overtaking me has a novice helm....

And I do what I need to keep clear as they come towards me, or full throttle so they can't overtake me...kidding....

But I do watch, and I have laughed at private boats mooring I have laughed at hire boats mooring, I have thought...wow they know what he/she is doing private and hire, I have assisted with the ropes for hire and private...

On the road we have cars with things on the roof with a big red L on them, we have cars on the road with a little sticker on them with a red L on it (scared me with my wife learning in my car), on the rivers we don't...

sorry, forgot myself and was a bit serious....

NOTE TO SELF, if you see Wyndham on the river, give a wide berth

Just out of interest, do you know why (serious) cyclists wear glasses, dark or otherwise?

so the car drivers they p155 off can't recognise them when they are in the pub

To gain speed on Take off, sometimes like the Flintstones everyone  would have to run along the runway, just like Fred.

at least he got home with all the snow we have had...

Does my cycling proficiency test from the 70s count ? Oh loads of road sense too :default_beerchug:

I have just had a giggle remembering my cycling proficiency in my school playground.

We went one at a time down the playground with the instructor shouting "STOP" to test our emergency braking...

I set off towards the wall at the bottom of the playground, he shouted "STOP" I stopped, came back...

As I was going back to the start, he set off another lad on his journey down hill towards the wall...

When I got back I asked the instructor how I had done, he turned to me and said I had done fine....

    CRASH

Yup, you guessed, the other lad kept going because the instructor did not shout "STOP".....

I could have said it was coke, (as I know it is not the velvet black stuff) but the comedic effect would not have been as good......
