  1. You really do need to compare the costs of syndicate ownership to hiring and treat it like hiring. You can't just down tools and pop down for the weekend because somebody else is on it!

I reckon we are nearer £19.5k but that includes a management company so we just turn up and turn the key and lock the door when we leave-we even have a cleaner

Works out about £400 per week. To hire Jasmine Emblem (same style) costs £1150 this week..........

Thats exacly how I look at it, we had 3 weeks away last year for just over £1.000. A similar boat on the hire fleet would have been over £3,000

  2. Hi dnks, You're actually wrong, its 36 weeks owned so £12,600 per year and none of that goes to anybody as a management fee it is all spent on the boat. Mooring fees alone are over £2,500 per year then when you factor in improvements such as carpets, heater replacement, annual lift out, servicing, break downs(we try to keep these to a minimum with preventative maintenance wherever possible) anti foul, polishing - the list goes on. This is why if you can only get down to the broads for a couple of weeks each year it really is the way to go. I'm sure Clive and other yards on here will confirm how much it costs to keep a boat in the water that is used almost year round.

  3. Hi,

We have sold a couple of shares recently, below is the up to date list of what is available. If you have any questions please let me know.

    Current Shares for Sale

    Week 11 - 16th April 2016 - £1,495

    Week 38 - 17th October 2015 - £1,250

    Week 40 - 31st October 2015 - £1,250

    Week 41 - 7th November 2015 - £950

    Week 47 - 19th December 2015 - £1,700

    Week 48 - 26th December 2015 - £1,700

Please remember, the price above is for your share of the boat, not payable every year. Once you own this the yearly maintenance fee is approximately £350.00 per share per year for a week away!

    Thanks for looking.

  4. Southern Crusader came along and moored in front of us earlier today.  Their first trip out in her and first visit to Beccles.  They needed the help of us and the harbour master to get her sorted.

Apparently the harbour master was expecting two others to arrive for mooring on the river.  Needless to say they haven't arrived!

    Hi Sue,

Thanks for helping out! Its Paul and Teresa on this week, their second week on the broads and their first on Southern Crusader, bit of a baptism of fire I think with such a high sided boat and these winds. Say hello from me if you see them.

  5. The Eshima Ohashi bridge in Japan - the third largest of its kind in the world - rises sharply so ships can pass underneath. The concrete road bridge, pictured, spans a mile across Lake Nakaumi, linking the cities of Matsue and Sakaiminato. The two-lane concrete road bridge stretches 1.7km or just over 1 mile long and has a width of 11.4 metres making it the largest rigid frame bridge in Japan and the third largest in the world.

  6. No doubt it will protect the hirer by the insurance waiver they will have paid. The hire company may have paid a premium to their insurance company.

With regards to private boats and insurance, I know with our insurance we are not covered for roof damage, the skipper assumes resposibility to pass under bridges. It is a judgement call.

Are you other owners covered for roof damage?

    Regards

    Alan

We are covered for it with Nav and Gen

  7. Hi Jon,

I have had a look at the height levels of the next period th

at may be suitable for passage of Southern Crusader or Ranworth Breeze the Broads Authority's tide tables.

    Thu 19th 08:11 1.87 19:59 2.07 01:51 -0.19 13:57 0.14

    Fri 20th 09:02 1.96 20:52 2.19 02:45 -0.37 14:49 0.00

    Sat 21st 09:49 2.03 21:45 2.27 03:33 -0.48 15:39 -0.10

    Sun 22nd 10:34 2.05 22:37 2.29 04:19 -0.50 16:25 -0.13

    Mon 23rd 11:18 2.02 23:26 2.24 05:03 -0.41 17:11 -0.09

    Tue 24th 12:01 1.96 - - 05:47 -0.22 17:57 0.01

    Wed 25th 00:15 2.13 12:45 1.88 06:31 0.03 18:45 0.14

For us to get under the Yarmouth Bridges we need a low water height of less than 0.2 to be on the safe side. The minus levels are good for those people who are struggling with very high air drafts.

    Regards

    Alan

    Thanks Alan,

Appreciate that, unfortunately we come home on Tuesday :-(

  8. We moored at Berney Arms last night with a view to going North this morning, when we looked at the tides this morning it showed a higher than predicted low tide so decided not to bother(we need 10'). I am pretty certain that about 9.30 this boat came past us, low at the Yacht Station was at 7.37, shortly after we went for a trip over Breydon, just up to the lifting bridge and back, the height gauge at the Berney Arms end was showing 8' at the bridges.
