  1. Off on a tangent from this ,on the way back from Barydon to st olaves , Wendesday we came across a hire boat(no names no pipedrill!) disabled 400m around the corner from the public moorings, mud weight down , asked if they were ok they indicated yes, waiting for help, the help came in the form of Spirit of Braydon, as we found out , as all of sudden there was a very loud voice on said boats pa that they were intending to moor against a hire boat on the full public mooring at st olaves, the poor people were enjoying there lunch complete with beer and wine ect....but fair play to them , they helped in anyway they could , doning life jackets and following the very clear instructions from Spirit of braydens skipper, who moored up beside them making a tripple mooring. All boats were moved up to get the stricken vessel in , a very slick operation and a credit to everyone ,

well done BA crew......job well done.

As an owner of a 48 year old car I think we could all agree per mile the older cars are not fuel efficient.  I do think scrapping an mot test is madness and still will always take mine for a check annually even though I do a lot less than 1k miles.

But if I go for a a day out for the day I might do 80 miles total, and use 4 gallon of petrol if I drive spirited.

Lets take the same day out in a old ish boat, single diesel. I know we wouldn't cover 80 miles but say 5 hours cruising total. Whole the fuel consumption be that much different

Both trips are for pleasure, both hobbies keep many companies and people in jobs and bring in revenue for the govt.

    Here's my old chugger.

I can hardly keep my eyes open.

If you are going to flounce off, flounce off. Don't make a lengthy thread of it, because most of us have other concerns and, frankly, don't care.  If you are going to flounce off, close your account and then you won't be troubled by misguided people pleading with you to stay (or is that what you really wanted?) and you won't be tempted to quietly flounce back.

ditto a toolbox talk saying.....no i can,t!! get a life!! i am fed up ,this forum is a hobby not a place to get heavy , lighten up , opinions of all count, been here a few years , never had this  shite , if your that sensative best you go and shut tfu ,  bye bye

  4. i think you would have to make an enquiry about the path from the public moorings to the mill, depends how old the signs are , if before the crow act  they may be out of date, ie

The river continues through Herringfleet Marshes. The marshes stretch from here to St Olaves and are overlooked by Herringfleet Hills, part of the Somerleyton Estate. Recently the hills have been classed as open country as defined under the CRoW Act. Together with the Broads Authority the estate has opened up the area to walkers and provided a car park and way marked paths leading to Herringfleet Smock Mill.

  5. Location
    TM 465 977
    OS Sheet 134
About 5 miles NW of Lowestoft. Access by footpath only from B1074 between St Olaves and Somerleyton (about 1/2 mile). Small car park beside B1074.

from the moorings walk along the river to the  mill then upto the carpark, near ponds farm  ,walk on the embankment no probs,

The mill itself has  sail stock problems as here that,s why it,s arms are missing
