Yep keeps him quiet for hours, charging and polishing them and he loves walking around in the dark with his fav torch of the day putting it on different settings to see how far and wide it will shine.
If it makes him happy then so am I ❤️

It's a bit odd, if I were Herbert Woods I would be advertising the fact as it might bring in custom. It does say heritage and so maybe there's an old boat there or something.

Steve (sidestand) has conkers on his boat to get rid of spiders but they are still there. So not sure that works, have you tested it out?
Rabbits, I don't think you would kill and eat your friends when you get fed up with them, well I hope not anyway .

I work for the fire service and there are discussions going on at the moment with the government to replace all the radios on the emergency vehicles with good quality mobile phone services voice and data.

The project is called ESMCP Emergency Services Communication Programme. If this happens its likely to be in 2016, I think, and I would guess that there will be advantages for users as well as emergency services, if there was good coverage 3G/4G in Norfolk I would be happy with that - which this project may achieve.
Long way off but a light on the horizon, maybe.
Not sure how the boating companies would offer wifi on the move as you would need a conduit to provide connection (phone line/broadband or wireless access points strategically placed as they are limited on reach). Satellite phones are finicky and expensive, the Broads are quite open, without the mobile phone masts how can you route the traffic. Maybe I have misunderstood?

OMG not keen on rats, not seen any on the Broads (yet...!). The cats caught one home a while back, we back onto a farm that they are changing the barns into homes - I think the rats were evicted and so tried to come to us. With four cats it was not the wise thing to do really lol.
They bring rabbits home the same size as themselves, swaying from side to side with the weight of the rabbit. Sometimes they are alive, especially the baby ones, we usually put them back into the field to let them get away.

I was raised in South London, between Kennington, Elephant and Castle, Camberwell areas. Like you I have not had a sheltered life. My school was the roughest school in S.E London and yes, even as a girl, I had to stick up for myself daily. I remember my brother got into a fight, he kept getting knocked out and my dad sent him back again and again until he came away winning. That was then, this is now and I am not the same person now.
I know what's right and what's not. I have respect for others. Maybe that's the issue!
I suppose I have my answer to my original question. Rudeness is not a daily occurrence on the Broads, but, you may have to be tolerant of others who are not intelligent enough to respect those around them. Depending on the severity, will depend on whether it's worth reporting them.
We love the Broads, it's our escape from stress and gives us a chance to relax, it's all good and we won't let others spoil it for us.

It's our first year on the Broads, we only bought the boat around August time and so have no idea what to expect long term.
We hired a boat at first, found everyone really nice and helpful and in turn we were also helpful to others. We then purchased a boat and are looking forward to great times respecting all, regardless as to whether they own their boat or have hired it.
The boat in question did get pulled by the Broads Authority just before they decided to pee over the side, their way of rebelling against the 'man' maybe.
Totally agree it's unhygienic, glad we have our own boat now.
It is indecent exposure, what if we had young children with us, not good is it. There has to be some rules otherwise where would we be?
Flicking back to my original post on this subject, it was not a moan or a grown but a question of what to expect. Seems there are mixed expectations and views.

I don't mind spiders, we live in a thatched cottage and so have got used to creepy crawlies over the years. The Hertfordshire Hairy Spiders are huge, when the run across the floor you could almost mistake them for mice.
The cats think they are yummy though as a starter!
I have only seen small spiders on our boat, we cleaned the canopy this week and probably made a lot of them homeless, next time I will collect them as I now know of a good home for them, your boat.

I am broad minded (no pun intended) and so happy to let it go, but am also aware that it's good to look after the broads and it's traditional serenity and as I can see by some of the replies it does upset some and so the idea about turning the naughty ones in with a photograph sounded like a good idea and perhaps a deterrent.
I was young once but would not hang my bum over the edge of a boat in front of other innocent people and have a pee!

Ha ha we spent the last few days cleaning the boat, duck poo, spider droppings, etc but not the same sand stuff that was on our car. I recon our boat is magic. Lol

Our car got covered early last week. We washed the car before we went to the boat last week, it looked lovely. Got home late last night and it was covered in sand again!
Going to let it stay dirty now for a week or so just to be sure as don't want to waste time washing it just for it to get sandy again.
Funny thing though, other than a light covering of sand on the windscreen of the boat the rest of the boat was fine, maybe the sand does not stick well to fibre glass?

We have four cats, all rescue cats, and we miss them when we are away, especially the newest one who we adopted last year because he is a real cling on, he follows us everywhere and so I know he must miss us when we are not at home. Our grown up children look after them so we are lucky.
Not sure I would risk taken any of them with us - Thomas our second oldest cat likes water, he likes having a shower and so he may just jump in which would be a bit scary for us.
Steve who has Pearl Anchor told us it's unlucky to have a cat on the boat, or was it Kevin can't remember but it was one of them.

It sure is pretty, we saw it too it would be high maintenance to keep it looking that good.
All the old stuff is better than the new, like the old type Land Rover Series II it's got such a great shape, classic lines just like Spark of Light.
