  1. We love the broads and wish we lived there too, one day when we can retire maybe. Perhaps a good idea would be a type of 'citizens arrest' that if you can photograph the offender and email a copy to the boat hirer / Broads Authority that they could then levy a fine against them. For the thing I witnessed I would think a minimum of £100 would teach them and also ward off others doing the same. Overall though the Broads is very pleasant and unspoilt place, but we are newbies so you may have been even luckier and seen it even more beautiful than it is currently (if that's possible). Jan
  2. Ha ha that's funny, never thought of that. Was a bit shocked I suppose, but will know better for next time if it happens again (hope not). Jan
  3. I thought you were going to say that he ate the rabbit. Superstitions are odd aren't they. My dad used to blame me if he lost on the horses, if I came into the room while the race was running, not sure if I got the credit if he won
  4. We were enjoying ourself near Salhouse yesterday when a boat full of young men went past with one of them standing on the top of the hire boat peeing over the edge. Seems like they have missed the point of the broads, to enjoy the serenity and chill. Our first summer on the broads I suppose we will see a lot worse? Jan
  5. Not that we would bring our cat onto our boat, but.... Someone told me that it is unlucky to have a cat on a boat, is it? Does anyone know where that myth comes from?

It was such a nice day yesterday on the broads - we were up early and it was beautiful with the mist rising from the water. The day before it was surreal, like being in some sort of weird movie could not see the sky because of the dust clouds.
  7. Hi That is a good tip, I have clicked follow this topic, easy when you know how . Thanks Janice
  8. Hi Alan and Tan Many thanks for the information. I was finding it hard to find the question I raised on the forum but will use the advice and am sure we will get the hang of it . Its great to have somewhere talk to other boat owners. Thanks Janice
  9. Hi John and Mary-Jane Thank you, yes we keep the boat at Potter Heigham, have been happy there so far. Our friends introduced us to the boat yard so we took it on recommendation really. What about you? Janice and Mike
  10. Hi We are newbies, purchased our first boat about six months ago, Alpha 26 she's a little beauty been really good. Purchased her at the end of the summer so, bit of a shock, could not use her over the winter, logical but we really did not think it out. Anyway, still pleased we have the boat looking forward to the good weather. Heard this is the forum to be involved with, so here we are. Been trying to find details of the Salhouse Broad meet in May but not found it yet, will get better at navigating the forum after a while. Meanwhile can anyone tell us the details please. Many thanks and happy cruising
