  1. Everything these days seems to eminate from a knowledgeable source, as if from some inner sanctum. No names, no pack drill. Nudge, nudge, say no more.

No disrespect  intended towards Vanessan whatsover but it seems that the only form of communication concerning important matters is by this means. Whispers in the night over a pint of two's.

My point is why should this be? Why the secrecy, the smoke and mirrors.

Unless of course there is a conflict of commercial interest why doesn't the BA come up front with these issues instead of faffing about and contributing to the intrigue.

It is our Norfolk Broads after all.

  2. I would imagine it is somewhat difficult to assist a newcomer with regard to a stern on mooring, on a wind day.

The helm could be over 40ft away unless you have the right to board an adjacent boat with or without the attendance of the owner/hirer.

  3. Never ever forget Bikertov, it is never ever that which you pay for a boat.

It is not a 5, 10, 20, 30, thousand decision whatever you have paid.

Your decision is based on your loss, or indeed profit if circumstances force a sell.

Your loss or profit, the former may be uncomfortable but not disastrous.

I wish you well. Go for it. I would.

None it' was The NWT,I think two one in the info centre  and one on the boat. They worked or volunteered for the trust.Nothing to do with BA.

Although they did record, at the end of the day, boat numbers/name's for the BA in order that they might have a record of those who might ignore the 24 hour rule.

CCTV is also available, and still available, at Malthouse and Reedham.

No, the only business that should never think outside the box is undertakers.

I have to disagree. For me a Viking farewell.

If you don’t want to be traditionally buried or cremated, you might envision yourself having a Viking funeral. And that probably means you want the type of Viking funeral you’ve seen in the movies.

We all know how it works: the warrior’s body floats out into the sunset on a carved longboat, adorned with jewels, mementos, and possibly a sword or two. Attendees stand in reverent silence as a skilled archer sends a flaming arrow to magically set the whole thing alight.

Malthouse broad would be good. Having moored at the quay and not paid.:default_sailing:

  6. My understanding is that you cannot be fined in the event of failing to conform to a contractual obligation. You can however be pursued in a civil court of law.

    There is a difference.

There is a danger of trying to compare the Ranworth so called "contract" with that of the car park "contract".

The latter with a degree of common law as opposed to statute accompanied by a certain amount of smoke and mirrors. Knowledge and experience, unknown waters for the BA (pun intended).

  7. Been there. Done that. They are on the plot.

You are going to be OK.

Addenbrooks, got to be one of the best hospitals in the UK? Europe? No, of world wide renown.

Bit of scanxiety, you can cope with that.

Drink plenty of fluids and keep your spirits up.

I found beer and whisky helped.

  8. I feel nervous with regard to BRAG. I wish to express my opinion, however I feel that the tide of euphoria is such that any comment i wish to make would be considered as negative, obstructive, against the cause.

My opinion might not necessarily be considered with any degree of sincerity.

I therefore have decided to refrain from comment. To avoid ill feeling.

  9. Funny old day, four days ago actually, daughter rang, mum, dad, you have had a rough couple of months with respiratory issues and then Covid. How about half a day, on the river Yare, on a day boat. With us and the grandchildren. Our treat.

We were so pleased, so appreciative of there kindness.

The boat, an electric jobby was superb. I had to be helped in by my grandchildren, it was just a few years ago I helped them!

Our trial run driver stated that he would help us leave the mooring. As it was difficult.   I sat at the back.

He had issues, not insurmountable, he was unable to extract the boat from the mooring.

I have spent many years teaching people how to drive, manoeuvre boats, and I knew how to resolve the situation, but decided not too. I did not wish to embarrass the young chap. Thankfully an older colleague yelled instructions and then sprinted over to offer more advice.

  10. The broads is for everyone.

    Or is it?

    Is it a given?

May I suggest that there is a conversation as to regulated activity, privileges, as opposed to adhoc and events which appear on the calendar without any thought or consideration.

In brief, the broads is for every one. Is that what the Broads is all about, the so called National Park is all about? NO IT IS NOT.

    .

There has to be control, recognised consideration.

An appreciated and earned  privilege by all concerned.

    Sadly not understood or recognised.

I sometimes feel that the our heritage, The Broads, is so often used and abused.

I’m not against the hold station waiting for several paddlers to come through, there is surely a risk to all river users there.

The hire boat helm is taught to progress slowly, and indeed he does.

In a confinend situation surrounded by other boats, canoes, paddle boards, having to manoeuvre in a tight limited "water situation" there is the very real situation that the hirer to avoid a confrontation will resort to putting more energy into a  boat to resolve a given situation. Regretfully without any understanding or experience of the consequences.

  12. think that we need to revisit the sentiment that "the Broads is for everyone".

The ideal, yes. In practice no.

I have a concern. Sooner rather than later there will be another tragedy, there seems to be a degree of inevitably.

There needs to be an understanding, of the problems, a recognition of the issues. A conversation with regard to the disciplines which are needed to put in place.

I have respect for the BA, they have achieved and maintained much during my involvement with the Norfolk Broads which is over several years.

There now seems to be lack of focus, of discipline, a somewhat dysfunctional organisation which lacks direction.

And I am not sure as to how we address this.

The solution may be elsewhere, but I have little confidence.

They can’t accurately predict the weather for the following day, never mind next ruddy month.

Well i can. With an an degree of knowledge. And experience Mouldy.

    Listen up.

We are going to experience summer weather during the next few weeks.

It will be some of this, and some of that.

For those in a caravan, in a camper van, in a B&B, in a tent.

    In a boat?

I know where I would be, in a boat.

  14. Once again I understand,  and I thank you for your reply.

My understanding is that the BA has conformed to this requirement. Indeed they have had no choice.

Within the contract, of the ownership, becomes by virtue of the contract,  a condition.

Is there any part of this condition, acceptable and agreed by both parties specifically states that the BA  is unable to place a charge for its services.

MT. A somewhat clumsy definition on my part. But I do feel a bit confused.

The simple answer as Grendel has said, is the The BA own the land, it comes with certain conditions, but they still own it.

    I understand.

Would you be kind enough to elaborate on your well meaning comment:

    With certain conditions.

  16. Who pays, who do they pay is errelvent.

My question was simple. Grendle has I'm afraid over egged the pudding.

    Who owns the staithe?

Answer that will allow me to proceed to my next question. But not until.

  17. This issue seems to go on and on.

May I ask a simple question.

Is the staithe at Malthouse Broad a public staithe.

Is a staithe, by definition public. What is public, what is the definition of public.

    The locals, the parishioners?

Who owns Malthouse staithe. Is that not the crux of this very matter.

    Cater, Retac, BA

    Please tell me.

We have a right to know.

    However some deem otherwise.
