This is ridiculous. If the markers aren't accurate then hirers could be missing out on entire sections of the broads.
Example: earlier this year i hired a boat with 8ft 4in airdraft. If the adjusted height makers read 8ft 3in when the actual clearance was 8ft 6in, i wouldn't attempt it. Meaning i miss out on everything under the bridge. If the height marker was accurate i WOULD go under.
Accurate and legible markers is the only way.

Pinched it from someone I'm afraid. Thought it was clever.

'Eleven plus two' is an anagram of 'Twelve plus one'

Hi all,
Just booked Broadland Orion for a week in August next year. Sleeps four, lovely little boat. Total cost £619. Bargain.

Gramps,
We did a similar thing recently, actually arrived about 90mins after low water and got through with an air draft of 8ft 4in. You should have lots of room.

The asterisks appeared automatically. I take it that word is frowned upon. It was only sh*t

Click on 'control this camera'. When it's your turn (it tells you the rough waiting time at the bottom) the drop down menu will appear. However you have to be logged in. And you have to register in order to log in.

Abroad (based on my last trip)
2 and a half hour drive to the airport
find a parking space
wait for bus to take you to airport terminal
wait to check in bags (long, slow, queue)
passport control (long, slow, queue which involved me getting half naked)
board the plane (long, slow, queue)
4 hr flight (which left late)
disembark plane (long, slow, queue)
passport control (long, slow, queue but thankfully no half nakedness this time)
wait for cases on carousel (yes, ours were last)
bus to resort
check in (long, slow, queue)
The Broads
3 and a half hour drive (in comfort of own car)
boat usually ready and crusing within the hour

Are these incidents becoming more and more frequent? Or is it just that we have forums, groups on social media etc etc. And with modern technology a photo can be taken on a phone and uploaded to the Internet in seconds?
Just thinking out loud.

Thanks again for the advice chaps. I think I'll opt for the Acle option, like the pub there and if i leave at say 6am the timing will be perfect.

Alan,
thanks for the advice, i reckon you're right. I might risk it and ring the Yacht Station en route. I can always change my plan accordingly.

Hi,
if i leave Ranworth at sunrise (0540) on 17th Aug, what are the chances of me getting under the Yarmouth bridges? Slack is 0711 according to the info i have. My airdraft is 8ft 4in.
Thanks.

Air draft is 8ft 4 which is a shame as it's years since I've been to Geldeston.

Evening all,
Sugar Beat Express are performing at The New Inn on August 15th. Anyone seen them? What type of music do they play etc etc? We will be moored outside the pub that evening and some decent live music will certain enhance the evening!!
-
I always have a few beers whilst driving the boat. Everything in moderation though. Then in the evening i have a load more. Never seem to get a hangover on The Broads though, must be the fresh air.

Planning to arrive at lunchtime so if the worst comes to the worst we'll have lots of time on our hands. And with WRC and Oulton Broad as backups i can't really lose!

We always enjoy mooring at the yacht station and going for a wander around Beccles. Going in June we haven't needed to book but if I was wanting to go in August I would be tempted to book- it could be quite a long journey to get back up the Waveney to anywhere else were the yacht station to be full. Either that or be prepared to moor up quite early to be on the safe side.
good point that Jean. It's a couple of hours back to WRC if it's full. Think I'll book a spot.
Thanks everyone for the advice.
