  1. Hello all,

We are planning on visiting Beccles Lido on Monday 17th August and intend mooring at the Yacht Station. How busy is it likely to be? I don't really want to reserve a mooring because if the weather is rubbish the plan will change.

We cannot get under the bridge, is the Yacht Station our only option or are there others moorings elsewhere?

    Thanks.

  2. Wow!! Didn't think I'd ever see that pub open again. Gives me an extra mooring option when i head north, low tide at GY being early morning when I'm next afloat.

  3. Afternoon all,

Picking up Contessa from Richardsons on August 15th, cannot wait. The day i wish to pass through Yarmouth, low tide is 06.11. The plan is to overnight at Acle and set off at 6am. That makes my arrival at GY about 8am. I'm hoping the tide won't have risen too much by this time and there is sufficient clearance under the bridges. My height above water is 8ft 4in.

    What do you guys think?

  4. I'm pretty certain the knot I use is one I've created but it works for me. If I'm assisted by someone who's knot looks professional I usually leave it. I'm a bit OCD with mooring ropes not being used though, I coil them neatly as messy ropes wind me right up!

  5. Hypothetical question. You're on a weeks holiday, out of season (so mooring isn't an issue). You have to cover both northern and southern Broads, where do you moor overnight?

Here's mine (I'm starting from Stalham)

    Ranworth

    Oulton Broad

    Loddon

    Rockland Staithe

    Acle

    Horning

    Sutton Staithe

Interesting to see if I stick to this when I come next.

  6. This a question to Mr Clive Ricko, just WHY are many of the double berths so narrow? Or is it as the years have passed folks today are bigger boned? I know I have struggled in a so called double and ended up sleeping in the saloon berth.

    cheers Iain.

I completely agree. To the point where it's almost false advertising. I think the 'double' cabins in the older boats should be advertised as singles.

  7. Interesting to see Broadland Mercury, we have hired this for next September

    David

We found Broadland Mercury to be a "you get what you pay for" boat. Nothing spectacular but it was ideal for us and everything we needed. This was 5 years ago however.
