  1. So this blog ends with our engine back together but not well at all.

Going through some paperwork that we got with the boat it appears that the diesel fuel pump was adjusted when Lady P was put in for an oil leak and running issues. now that the valves have been replaced and completely new cylinder blocks fitted she is very hard to start and blows out copious amounts of white smoke/unburnt fuel.

next job is to get the fuel pump checked and re timed, hopefully that will work

I will start a 2016 blog when we have an update

  2. Thank Andy and Frank,

Frank the link you put up is the one from earlier in the thread. Sean's website and his ad on apolloduck still say available but he sold it months ago.

Andy thanks for the eBay links. After lots of searching we managed to find the parts needed for our md11c. All has been put back together and she is running ...... We'll sort of. It's very hard to start and plumes of white smoke from the exhaust as well as a bit of a slick on the water.

Sure we will get there ....... Eventually :D

    cheers

  3. Just a very quick update

our faulty cylinder jackets are currently with Janet Anne who has her humans checking to see if they can be repaired. A big box of chocolates are on order should JA manage this :D

Ive also manage to locate and secure 2 more jackets should the repair not be possible. It will be good to have spares for the future. Also acquired an exhaust manifold for our md11c engine, all 3 parts for a very good price.

Things are going in the right direction so at this moment I'm a very happy man :teddy:

    cheers

  4. As stated in a previous thread, Deb and I turned up to our boat rather late one night, must have been about 11:45pm. Before we had even emptied our stuff out of the van some headlights appeared and parked up next to said van. A young policeman came down to the boat armed with a torch to see what was going on. Not sure if someone had called him or he was just patrolling that area. After a short chat he left us to finish our unpacking satisfied that we were indeed the boat owners.

my only complaint was he could have grabbed some stuff out of the van and brought it to the boat, after all he was only carrying a torch :D.

my point is I am sure someone moored at the marina had heard a vehicle pull up and then maybe our footsteps as we walked along the moorings and called the authorities. It was just after the thefts of a couple of outboards from the marina so maybe extra checks were being made. Whichever it was it was good, as an owner, to know this was happening.

    cheers

  5. That's a lovely little Norman Strowey.

This is the dilemma we are in at the moment. If we can't find another identical engine then where do you draw the line when it comes to the cost against the value of the boat. What is a boat with a faulty engine worth? Not a lot I would have thought.

we are still looking for an MD11c but they appear to be like the proverbial rocking horse manure :shocked

    cheers

  6. Thanks Strowey, much appreciate your time spent looking for a good solution. I've also used good old Google and there are some very nice looking and well engineered fittings but I've also seen some real nasty looking jobs.

Still not sure which way we will go to resolve this engine issue but all ideas are gratefully received :D
