Fantastic well-rounded post Paul.
In my own opinion (coming from a long time F1 fan and a 10+ year Hamilton fan) I would have to say it was probably more Hamilton’s fault than Mad Max’s.
HOWEVER, it was 100% rough justice. Max has had this coming a long time. Look at the 2 lunges he’d already made on the previous 8 corners. Look at the lunge at Barcelona earlier this year. Look at him forcing Hamilton off at Imola in the rain. If you play stupid games eventually you’ll win a stupid prize - and yesterday he done just that…
Glad Max is OK, seems like the hospital thing has been blown out of all proportion - it was a precautionary move, nothing more than a few bruises by all accounts.
As for the clapping thing - I think people need to get a grip. Any little thing to bring him down. He has probably given more (monetary wise) to the NHS than 99.9% of the population.

Corrr some people need a chill pill. I don’t think a back-marker crashing is that much of a give away, and understand this post given the severity...
Crash was horrific - I was speechless and sure he would be the latest fatality...shows the sort of people these drivers are, footballers go down with the slightest of touch, rolling around like they’ve been shot... F1 drivers get up and walk away.
also hats off to the medics - it took balls to run towards the fire like that

HMRC’s UK Income Tax Liabilities Statistics, published in 2019, put Hamilton among the top 5,000 highest tax payers in the UK.
Yes but why let facts get in the way of good old passive racism?
the fact people need to quote 7 year old articles about tax avoidance says more to me about them than it does about LH.
Any company avoids taxes & claims back VAT where possible, it’s good business sense. And the thought of LH sitting there filling out his own import deceleration is laughable - he probably didn’t even know about the avoidance until it hit the papers...

I’m a fanboy, and proud to be. Don’t get me wrong I fully understand his flaws, but hey - who’s perfect?
never understood the British way of bashing our own. If he was German or French or from most other parts of the world he would be treated like royalty, but we prefer to always put the boot in. Odd behaviour IMO.

point well made, can’t see the usp the system which doesn’t exist save for an exceptional event whereby standby services eg Hemsby lifeboat cant cope.... not sure that’s ever happened.

one rescue boat would have done, how many rescue boats do you need for one man?
I believe (although happy to be corrected), that the Fire Service require an additional boat on scene as stand-by should their boat in the water get into difficulties.

Thanks all for the response - was under the impression you were not allowed to travel at night, learn something new every day!!
-
So just to be clear:
- hire boats are not allowed to navigate at night due to lack of lights, insurance and contract (in most instances)
- private boats can travel at night with appropriate lights dependant on weather conditions.
is that correct?
-
Many thanks - so boats are allowed to travel at night as long as they have correct lighting?
-
Had a quick browse of the bylaws this afternoon but couldn’t find anything about navigation at night. Can anyone point me in the right direction of the rules?
-
Whilst I would never dare question the fantastic work that the RNLI do, it is always worth remembering the independent lifeboats as well. Norfolk has many - Hemsby, Caister, Sea-palling and Mundesley are all independent. It’s also worth noting that it’s an independent lifeboat which attends most emergencies on the Broads.

The EDP are reporting that three people were rescued from the water at Horning late last night. Another reason for a big thank you to all the rescue services.
Wishing those involved a speedy recovery from their emergency.
Unfortunately, as usual, the EDP’s reporting leaves a lot to be desired...

It of a shame he didn't get in the podium, and I raised more than one eyebrow at some of Vettle's moves - surprised he went penalty-free...

As a time-served lifeboat crewman, I can assure you that “persons in the water” is pretty much as serious as it gets (for clarity, I refer to persons in the water who did not intend to be there)
