  1. Just to confirm boat now Sold and deal complete after a successful survey this morning. New owner moving her to better suited waters. Also confirms if price, presentation, honesty and you have good advertising you can still sell a boat privately and at this time of year. Also prooves there is still nice genuine buyers on good old Ebay. Buy it, sell it, love it, hate it, still best marketplace  :-) Also a small shout out for Pam at Broadland yacht brokers in Horning, she offers good advice and advertising packages. Also very friendly and polite. If you are reading this and thinking of selling your boat she would be a good start.

Now the search seriously begins, itching already!!!

aministrators feel free to delete thread if needed.

  2. Mr Plant, in my experience this is probably the worst time of the year to sell a boat. I suspect that you have two choices, take a big drop on the price in order to get a pre Christmas sale, or wait until Easter when you'll probably get your full price.

    Hi JennyMorgan,

Yes fully understand that, but for the asking price we are asking we feel this is good value for the boat. I will keep the thread updated with the progress of the sale.

We always check this forum for private owners selling when we have been searching in the past, so its a good base to place an advert.

  3. So planned our little trip ''down south'' for next week, as said not been down past yarmouth for quite a few years so really looking forward to it!

Passing down via yarmouth at low tide on monday afternoon and would like to head oulton broad / beccles direction first.

Can anyone suggest a nice stop over place. with good pub/food between yarmouth and the bottom of the waveney? :gracie:

if not might just head straight for oulton !

  4. Good evening everyone :wave

I have been reading / researching planning for ''new dwellings'' (not replacement) in Horning for some time now and it appears there is many restrictive covenants and also a very restrictive planning policy for waterside locations in Horning. I havnt spoken to anyone from BA as yet, but was wondering if any of you very knowledgeable chaps on here could explain any further for me.

I have dealt with many restrictive planning policies in the past, but in this area its seams a solid dead end!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Shaun

    M/L “TERRIER”

Originally dating back to 1954 she was used in Glasgow and the Clyde as a Motor Launch (M/L).  She was built with a Helsman’s cabin, amidships and a semi open area aft for passengers. She came to the college a couple of years ago from Clyde Marine Services LTD where she was worked regularly and it was time for her retirement.

Well that's just made it to near the top of the to-do list!

We're there from Saturday for two weeks MrPlant (no relation to Robert i presume!) on Song of Freedom from Freedom Boating Holidays.. if it's me helming you won't miss us as i have pink bits in my hair - give us a wave!

Will keep an eye out :wave

  6. Evening - if you haven't been south for a while a few places you won't have seen are

    1. Whitlingham Broad - not accessible by boat but good 24 hour moorings on the river 20 metres from Broad - nice teashop

    2. Hardley Mill - great moorings on the pontoon & well worth a look.

    3. Waveney river centre - ferry takes you to Carlton Marshes

    4. Oulton Broad - new ferry service to Lowestoft - think it's now working

    5. Trip to Norwich - even if you choose not to stay the riverside has changed dramatically.

Canoe hire also available in Norwich if you fancy a paddle upstream.

    6. In Surlingham there is a vineyard called Wimbri - they sell the wine in Coldham Hall & Waitrose! They may do trips round the vineyard - moor at Coldham Hall.

    7. Think you can get a trip round Langley Abbey -moor at Langley Dyke and check it out online - it's where the polo club is and around 300 metres from Langley Dyke.

Haven't mentioned pubs etc as others have already covered that but just a few ideas for new things you may not have seen. Enjoy - sure you will have a fab time!

  7. Hi

i take it your bringing the bin liner down?? If so you can t get past trowse rail bridge in Norwich or past beccles road bridge(old) check the tides for springs for loddon and rockland although time it mid tide you  have no problem at 11ft you'll have to   Wait at both swing bridges and get your times right at Yarmouth (sorry if I am sucking eggs but you did ask!!) Sonia s at the ferry house surlingham is a must !! Mud weighting on surlingham broad if calm very peacefull also Langley dyke very wild!

Oh yes we sure are, I thought we would fit in more down south :taunt:

I know old beccles is a no go, but didnt know there was a low one in Norwich, is that the only way to get to the city centre?

  8. The material you are talking about is Laminate.

It is made by a variety of companies including the one that most people will have heard of, Formica.

It is not easy stuff to work with, especially if you are working on an existing vertical surface in a boat. It is very brittle when it is unbonded and broken edges can be razor sharp.

You need a fair amount of space to work with it too.

    Try Ipswich Plastics.

Recommended tools for working with it:

sheet metal shears for cutting (won't deform and chip the laminate)
Router with a guided bit (for final trimming after fitting and curing)~
Sharp stanley knife and straight rule (more spare blades than you can  shake a stick at)
    Hand laminate trimmer

    Contact adhesive
roller (for applying even pressure) - a printer's roller of solid rubber is great.
Chinagraph pencils for marking your cut lines

There are some very good videos on YouTube for applying this.

So it is formica, I thought you guys would be using something different, but thanks for the info cheersbar

What are your thoughts/experiences on these flexible veneer sheets, never seen them before... Page 9 http://www.robbins.co.uk/pdf/Marine_Pricelist.pdf
