  1. If you woul like the opinion of newbee and a newcomer to the english behaviour and language...

If somebody want something interpreted in a bad, offensive way.. than it might be his/her problem. so far i have seen .... nobody is offensive or rude on purpose..

hopfully nobody will be offended :-)

If you feel offended or may be the words you read seams to be agressive.. think twice if it is like yes and if yes --- for a reason ?

  3. Hi Boater

my sons got aware that we are spending a fortnight on the broads in a Boat.

Now a question is coming up about TV over there, over here is Germany.

The only thing i know about british Television, that there is a different in sending pictures

and sound compaired to Germany. That means to me i had to buy a TV in the UK.

A TV which can handle 12 Volts DC. Are any suggestions for getting a good one, with wifi, HDMI ?

And the main thing where can i get such a miracle wonder near the Broads?

  6. High Folks,

We were lucky and got the chance to buy that Boat in very good Condition.

At first it will be used for our Holidays, later on we want to stay there for

a longer Time. We will change the interior later on but for now its perfect layout

for a family. Good for having some chats with friends.

It is currently laying in a dry docking to get new paint and antifoul.

It was formerly known as Countess of Light 2 and will get the name Hakuna Matata.

Latest eastern we are on the river, give shout when you see us there.

Wow no wonder everyone wants to come to the UK!! That is expensive.

I am sure as a whisky lover some of our Northern brethren will warm to you even quicker. However you must try some whisky from St Georges distillery. I can recommend it. Not accessible by boat, but worth a trip to.

Thank you, just checked the web, thats on my list for must see.

Germany isnt such a cheap place, but full of rules and less common sense.

If you got more of this shops i will load my boat until it fits under potter heigham :-)

  8. Hi Guys,

my personal opinion of cloned goods and sold much cheaper than the original is just leave them there. It doesnt matter if the come from China or Russia. Somebody put a lot of money and effort in it to invent or improve something and he is responsible for it, if it fails.

Why not paying this company for there investment ? The cloned things are in 90 % less Quality in many ways, the way its put together the material selection and so on.

Have seen the safety Test for theire Cars India and China both failed in nearly every section.

In the near History we germans was called good engineers, because not the money was the first too look at, the thing has to be perfect in material and function for a long time.

Especialy a heater where 10th or 100th of a mm count and the exact spec should be met to get a a warm boat with less fuel burn, this cannot be cloned without research just drilling a hole and put a pump on it make it work but safe ? economic ?

I personaly stay with the original, may be for a higher price but it gives them the possibility to make even better Heaters for the futue.

HM, I can see some serious chat is called for regarding your choice of "Iodiene" whiskies

Yes you are right talking about whisky in a chat is tend to be serious - the best way to talk about whisky is sitting with a lot of different whisky bottles, having a nice relaxed talking while tasting, less serious much more funcheers.

Honestly  the Speyside Whisky i love before having a meal my favourite right now is THE GLENLIVET, Before That i had Cardhu.

Hey Guys you should try a Cardhu lets say 4cl in a warm Glas best a a Nosing or a Cognac one and the same amount of Drambuie.

For sitting and watching the clouds going by a Talisker is perfect to me, but arguing about taste is like arguing about nothing. Thank God we are different  all drinking the same... how boring..

BTW thanks for the shop which sells the Pole, easy to find and not expensivre  ( please note the BTW getting lazy too )

Ha ha we have found a German who understands British humour as well :bow:bow

So your Majesty will you be based on the North or South?

Don't forget to look at the dates for the NBN meets as well. We are a weird bunch, but mostly harmless - we will go on and on and on and on about boats, bridges, moorings and all sorts of other non boaty things. But we will make you welcome.

Have you done any boating in Germany? I would have thought there are some fantastic rivers and scenery there? We also like pictures, so if you have any to share get uploading please.

And watch out for reviews from our resident beer expert Mr Norfolk Nog - I hope being German you also appreciate a good beer as well (we do have a few to compete with you guys).

As Jaws Orca (Alan) said, we need to know more!!

Thanks a lot a warm welcome here

unfortunately i must disappoint you - you found a German who doesn't like beer I am into Scotch Like Talisker or a Lagavulin, but that will not stop me from joining into a relaxed conversation with some drinks..

Boating in Germany isn't so easy like in the UK

At first you must pass an exam theory and practically investment about 900 £, than you are allowed to go with a small boat on small rivers and lakes. If yo want to go on bigger rivers like the Rhine onother exam infact 2 one for boating one for using a radio.

Down here a good mooring is about 2500 £ in Germany 4500 £

German Boat Insurance 3rd Party cover for my Boat starts at about 560 .

And now the real reason the norfolk people much more friendly..

I am based at the North to find out what I have to do to get the Boat warm an cosy for the winter.

My wife, the best of all, tend to start shivering when Temperatures drops below 20 ° C / 68° .

Just now found out there is no Flagpole on my Boat - any recomendation where get one ?

If there any further question about that strange German refugee -feel free to ask :-))

  12. Before touching the Laptop internal with a Metrix, make sure you disconnect the lines to the MB.

When performing measurement to get resistance they send a lot of Voltage throug the wires.

The Laptop case doesnt need to be earthed. If the power supply is coming through the external Charger it is a loop to wall socket. If it is powered by the Battery it is a closed loop back and to the Batt..

So the problem must be a poor connection a your socket/connector of the Laptop itself. Can be done by a Homeworker a cost some pence.

  13. To chip your Dog is the Law since Years in Germany. You can register your chiped Dog - you don't have too, but if the loved Dog run away, you get it back very easy due to the chip. Also coming to the UK without a Chiped Dog isn't allowed.

Policing is done by the Vet, On every routine checkup they check if the Chip still works.

i hope my both Dogs will be happy too staying here in the Broads
