I lost a front brake from my bike to thieves at a railway station - cable, calipers, lever -the lot. Scumbags.

the bit that really ticks me off is the fact that they don't care, ans the scumbags  see cycle crime as " victimless ". i couldn't do something like that .

  3. you know there really are some horrible people in this world , the goodladyand i decided to pop along to our local supermarket for some bits for tea , we locked our cycles up as always outside , did our bit of shopping which took about 10 minutes , only to come out and find ourr bikes missingand the remains of our lock lying on the ground, not happy is an understatement , we have contacted Mr Plod, and thankfully got a crime reference number for insurance purposes .  not what i wanted this evening i can assure you

Both boats double moored moved, I was watching on the webcam at the time, there was a lot of going backwards and forwards with at times the boats almost coming into contact.

Maybe they were put off that they would have had to move before 8.30 an in the morning.

    Regards

    Alan

can't see a problem with an early start to be honest

You may be annoyed with me, but you do know you could have had 11 days for the price of 10?

This is because 11 day holidays  begin on a weekday but 10 nights begin on a weekend. An 11 night holiday is made up of  a full 7 nights plus a 4 night short break tagged on, and since a 3 night weekend or 4 night midweek short break is the same cost, the 11 night holiday remains the same cost as a 10 night.

not annoyed at all old bean , we haven't booked it yet ,thanks for the heads upcheers

  11. Right then a question has arisen in our home , it won't be long  ( this time next week ) that we shall be on our way to Stalham to start our holiday , the good lady and i were sat talking last night over a very nice glass of Apple mead  about next May , and should we have another week or  should we have ten days instead , seemed a bit silly to ask me as i was doing ten days long before she had finished asking the question. You see the first time we  hired a boat we did a four day trip , and it was fantastic , then we took my Mum away for  a four day trip , , last year in may we had a week , followed in October with another four day trip , i felt like i had been pumped out , just got started and had to go back , so we have two week this year  May and September , and next year , the first of the ten day trips . it really astounds me how quickly  we went from four days  to ten .  stay safe , see some of you next week cheers

We have developed those same kind of "traditions" over a number of visits to the Broads, even though we have started from several different boatyards. Mostly they include cake, coffee and homemade fudge! :naughty:

Cake and fudge!:bow Oooh , save me some cheers

Don't think that feeling ever goes away Bob (certainly hasn't for us after 30 odd years)

hope you have a great week

we are on our 5th holiday, our second full week and the first of two  this year , , when we first came in 2015 it was  raining stair rods , we both got soaked as we walked down to the boatyard , by the time we got there we  were both giggling like  6 year olds , then came the " will we like it or won't we "? , we did , even though we did get soaked , as far as my dear wife is concerned " it wouldn't be our holiday if we didn't get rained on at least once ". fell in love with the Broads, daft as it sounds  it feels like we are coming home . cheers

    Hello all,

Joined the forum a few days ago, having been a NBN FB member for some time, so here we are saying Hi :wave

A bit about us - Keith & I had our 1st holiday on the Broads about 4 years ago now - tried the smallest boat we could find for a weekend, with the aim of ticking off a broads holiday from a non existent 'to do' list. Needless to say we were hooked & hired a number of boats on the northern rivers before eventually deciding boat sharing was right for us. We now thoroughly look forward to our 4 weeks a year - all seasons & weathers.

We are signed up for the spring meet so looking forward to meeting some of you then.

    Carol

:welcome: howdy doody Carol . welcome aboard . cheers

  15. it's about this time of year i have to start to take the " calm down dear " bottle of rum , as we are now entering the final week before our trip , i say final week as by this time next week my dear wife will be counting the minutes until she finishes work , then home to pack the " wheelie case "  for the trip to Stalham via Norwich , Wroxham, Horning, and Ludham. We got bargains with out Train tickets , less than £55 for two returns , so we were well pleased with that .bus from Norwich is about £4 each , then into the  "Cherry Blossom Cafe" in Stalham for our " becoming a tradition " sausage roll and cuppa , before the gentle sprint to Richardsons' boat yard, then into reception , i don't know why i am writing all of this down actually, i'm sure some of you, or even most of you, get this same feeling , we are  looking forward to meeting some of you at Salhouse on the Friday, and may well meet some of you in Richardsons' reception. Suffice to say  " WE CAN'T WAIT " !  stay safe, see you soon.cheers

In September last year we were moored at How Hill near the down stream end. During the afternoon we chanced to look back up stream and spotted a plume of smoke coming from a boat. I was worried and together with another chap from the next boat we ran down in case help was needed. As it turned out the smoke was coming from a Richo's bathtub and the hirer had lit a disposable BBQ inside. The smoke was unbelievable, so bad the hirer got his wife to carry it out of the boat (still alight) and put it in the pathway. The poor woman was left gasping for air from the hot smoke  and the bloke soon followed, not to see that she was OK but to bring a folding chair and sausages.

When politely asked why he had even thought that it was a good idea to light a BBQ in a boat the reply was that it must have been a duff BBQ because they don't smoke that much in the garden at home. I wasn't worth continuing the conversation so after checking that the woman was OK we left them to it. (Richo's were informed).

the mind truly boggles , doesn,t it . beyond belief really
