I caught a fish, much to my big brothers annoyance as he'd been quietly fishing all day and I just breezed along--- as youngsters do! and asked if I could " have a go"
To stop me pestering he reluctantly allowed me to use his spare rod - in less than 5 mins I caught a small Roach and to make him even more cheerful my mother forced him to take a picture!

I have banged on about the the basics rather that the stars for ages Katie. I would rather know that basics are complied with than decoration of the kitchen, paper work upto date. Like you said none of that or the 5 stars matters if some one in the kitchen uses the loo then serves your food without washing hands thoroughly. Oh i forgot . The pen pusher can see that hands are always washed as they are there 24/7 ticking off forms for the star rating to updated daily. Rant over
Charlie
Well said Charlie, sometimes it's the old adage "all fur coat and no knickers" more germs are spread by dirty hands than anything else! Even worse ... those that wear gloves and think that negates the need to wash .. sorry, work hat on.

Very interesting, didn't know they could get that many boats moored at Oulton Broad, very colourful. Thankyou

Sorry Maurice, but rather than play Russian roulette with my health, why wouldn't I just rely on the opinion of the paid expert, who's job it is. If it comes down to the taste or presentation of food, then fine we all have different tastes and expectations, and different concepts of what constitutes value for money. When it comes down to hygiene it is very largely a factual exercise. Is the food properly segregated in the fridge? Are surfaces and areas clean? Is food in date? Is it cooked to the right temperature? do the staff know what the right temperature is, and how to check it? There is very little room for opinion in those yes or no questions.
More importantly.....do they wash their hands and have the proper facilities to do so? None of the above will matter if they fail to do this simple task!

My next comment would have me Hanged, Drawn Quartered, shot, keel hauled and tied to a chair being made to listen to Griff's jokes.... So I'm not going to make it. :-)
Damn ! I'm intrigued now! I want to know what you would have said?

What authority would they have if an incident occurred? Do they have first responder training? I was a little concerned that they were searching for a boat that had a passenger on board with chest pains!! Whilst their local knowledge may be invaluable, in an emergency I am unsure as to what assistance they can provide?

Oh dear! I hope she's alright. Doesn't sound good that they had to do CPR.

Unfortunately not anymore Grace, I don't have the time/ patience, but I did teach the boys to fish ! Or more accurately I unknotted the fishing line, put the maggots on and took the fish off - if they caught any. May take it up again, you never know.
