  1. I'm on a few forums and I have to say this one is the healthiest of the lot.

people often dislike something because they don't agree with someone or it goes against ideology, surely one knows whether they're going to dislike a post by the opening 2 or 3 posts, there is no need for dislike buttons, surely were old enough and in my case ugly enough to ignore the thread completely.

itll run its course and disappear off the bottom of the page in time, life's to short enjoy it

Robin - with regards to the marina office - Say nowt! - For now.

Wait until the contractors for the fuel system is sorted, then get stuck into them with regards for querying the price / units used.  It won't have any effect when my team comes to visit in January as we are not contractors, just a bunch of mates coming down for a social weekend onboard and helping you out - UNPAID - whilst we are at it - All of which is 100% true so you stand to gain / lose precisely - Nowt!

Very sound advice if I may say so Robin, softly softly catchy monkey ?

In my opinion theres nothing more satisfying than witnessing a stranger make completely the wrong assessment of you then swiftly having to kiss the proverbial when they realise their mistake!!

And it's great making them really grovel when you've 'accidentally' let them see the wad you've got in the wallet

Sad but maybe not a surprise - last October myself and 17 or so others turned up to drink, there was maybe 3 others in the bar area and the issue was the fact we had a dog with us.  One of the locals asked with the person behind the bar if since it was a quiet night we could come in as the dog was well behaved, no absolutely no chance. We took our trade elsewhere. If this sort of thing was repeated or others left unsatisfied they don't come back or might spread the word to to others and so it goes on until it cannot be sustained as a business.

Bang on the money Robin, if pubs on the broads are not going to allow dogs they have no future, this proves the point perfectly.

I had a day's sail yesterday and thought there was slightly less traffic compared to the previous week, when we had a whole week's sail.  That's only on the Northern Broads though.

Yes Helen I should've made that clear, we were on the northern broads in potter. I appreciate the kids holidays might Buck things up but we normally have the beginning of July and it's usually a lot busier.

stll it didn't spoil our week

Regretfully sometimes anglers are to blame though, and I write that as a keen angler. Nevertheless in that RSPB hate campaign reality was often ignored or at least twisted. After many years as a keen RSPCS member I finally resigned over that.

Yes you are quite correct Jenny, usually snap off and trailing lines, however since the angling foundation mobilised coaching the problem has decreased, our club has active coaching courses and are well attended, training and mentoring is the way forward rather than let people loose with a rod and a pint of reds.

I myself have cut down an egret suspended from a tree after being tangled in line, I've also pulled a Starbucks coffee cup off of a gooses head, I kid you not.

im a very keen angler and was once a member of the RSPB, but their continual attack on anglers lead me to not renew which is such a shame.
