This is what is known as an extended quotation and as such is what used to be called a logical fallacy. I think it is the agenda of the RSPCA inspector that should be investigated. She used the word could which does not mean was. She then goes on to say if which does not mean was and then explains what the penalties if the could and the if are actually true without a single piece of supporting evidence that they are or are not true.

Thats called agenda driven propaganda and it's a tragedy that the once respected RSPCA can have allowed itself to sink so low.

We should of course feel remorse for the euthanised Swan however descending to the level of Herr Goebels who first made use of these techniques in the popular press ( does the EDP count ? ) to make a rather dubious point without a shred of evidence is rather crass and should be seen for the crude manipulation it is.

seeing as water is in fact incompressible how on earth can one " run over " a swan it's a ludicrous notion.

    ok rant over..

They have done this sort of thing with anglers over the years. It's very crafty and obviously tries to show angling and now boating in this instance in bad light.

Yes there should be an investigation and this rspca officer should be made to clarify her statement with fact not ifs and couldves. All imo of course

Now that's made my day Bedslad!  I am very proud indeed...but a proud Grandad, well a proud Timbo to be exact, owing to us having a surplus of Great Grandads still with us and Gracie has always called me Timbo.

The only time it's caused any trouble was at her nursery school leaving concert, where the head teacher thanked all the 'Mummies and Daddies and Grandmas and Grandads' for coming.

"And Timbo's!" said a little voice from the kids. "Don't forget the Timbo's!"

    Never forget the Timbo's

A day boat at Potter is a brilliant way to enjoy the Broads. Hickling Broad is awesome, as perhaps you know, and a trip to the Pleasure Boat an absolute must. The Mill at Horsey is a destination that I always enjoy, the toasted sandwiches in the National Trust kiosk are great! Sat in the sun, gnawing my sarnie, watching folk enjoying themselves is a very pleasant way of passing the time away. A walk to the beach is great! Enjoy your holiday. Above Potter Bridge is magic.

    Hi Jenny

thank you very much, we will certainly be taking up your advice.

you said a "short walk to the beach" can you give me dome more details please.

    many thanks x

  5. Been lurking about for a couple of weeks and decided to join this great forum.

Trudie and myself Pete are both 58, we've been cruising the broads every year for at least 10 years, hiring a number of boats and we love it, so to does our Jack Russell Spike, he's 12 and loves sitting outside with all the different smells.

unfortunately this year we aren't getting a boat out as I've just had heart surgery at harefield hospital and they have said nadda to handling a boat, so I've rented a chalet at potter heigham along with a day boat for the week in July, they won't keep us away from our 2nd home lol.

so thanks for accepting us and I hope we meet a few of you on the water or in a pub in the future.

    have fun everyone

    Pete, Trudie and Spike X
