30 - 5 = 25 (what goes in the till)
30 - 3 = 27 (what was paid)
27 - 25 = 2 (what the waiter has)- 1

Thanks Cliff. I’ll be in touch.
To answer some of the other comments ...
If it was just some members who didn’t like what I say I wouldn’t really care. I don’t even mind that someone complained.
I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong either but clearly the admins do to support the complaint and give me a warning. I’m not going to change the way I debate things I care about. Or my sense of humour (if you can call it that). So I think it’s best I just move on.
BTW, I think Bill’s post was funny, I know him well enough to be certain it was meant in jest. He might not be the miserable old git we all think he is- 5

I have no doubt that JohnK took it as meant, and it really did make me 'LOL'
What did you say?
If I’d seen it at it was meant as a joke I’m sure I’d have seen it that way. -
Thanks folks.
Apparently someone complained to the admins about me and the admins agreed. I suspect Bill.
I won’t be posting here (bugger, I just did). I will be posting elsewhere
JF, absolutely the offer is still open. -
Hi folks,
It’s been fun.
Apparently my posts aren’t acceptable so I’ll be off.
Hopefully see some of you on other forums or better still on the rivers.
I’m not deleting my account or anything so I should get emails via PMs if anyone wants to keep in touch.
I’m not making a fuss, just didn’t want to leave without saying anything.
All the best,
John

Yes, that's right, the mooring is the little bollard thingy
I always wondered why the things I tied up to spin round in the wind- 1
-
But I’ve got the wrong place haven’t I?
Mooring is at the top.
If I’m right THIS TIME then OS map shows no right of way. -

Pedant:default_wink:! John, I haven't provided a link to another Broads forum. I rather hoped that the information contained within went some way to answering the original question.
I provided no link at all and my post got removed so you’re winning whatever way you spin it -
I wish I was in the gang that’s allowed to mention other forums- 1

I think it's just that having put some thought and reasoning into the criticism, the response seems to just be that we are bashing the BA, and not a constructive response.
This makes us feel that out concerns are just being dismissed lightly. At least if the response comes back with a reasoned argument, we can at least respect the thought that has gone into the response.

I may think it but I don’t believe I’ve ever said anyone here is BA bashing.
I always try to put up a reasoned argument for my point of view. I guess I’ve wasted my effort. -
I wasnt refering to any individual but an on going theme in many threads, derision sarcasm ridicule take yòur pick what I dont see is a constructive response the nub of a mature debate, if anyone thinks it applys to them maybe they should ask themselves why, constructive criticism is far more beneficial than blind acceptance.
Fred
Unless I misunderstood your first post you seem to be saying that people who criticise the BA do so constructively then people on “the other side” deride them.
Grendel appears to say something similar.
Have I misunderstood or is that what you think happens? -
I am not and never have been pro or anti BA taking each topic at face value and look objectively at each topic on its merits so why is it that those that look on anyone who puts up a constructive argument against BA proposals can only answer with derision instead of a constructive counter argument.
Fred
I’m pro BA in that I like most of what they do.
So I assume I’m one of the people who “can only answer with derision”
Could you give me an example of where I’ve derided people who have put up a constructive argument against something the BA has proposed?
I ask because I’d like the opportunity to apologise to the person or people I’ve derided. -
I think he would be made very welcome here, and as a member nobody would then be allowed to post personal abusive posts toward him (the moderators would see to that), whether he can withstand the levels of constructive criticism that we would generate is a different matter.
being fair to the forum, most criticism here is constructive, in that we give the reasoning behind the criticism, if JP were here and paid attention to the criticism, then I am sure we could get the broads to be a place where everyone wins.
Mel was made welcome, she left again on advice from her supporters, because the constructive criticism was either not what she / they wanted to hear, or just that she / they did not want to hear of the potential problems or answer the questions, but thats another issue and way off this topic.
I’m not saying you’re wrong and I’m right but it’s amazing different people can look at the same forum and the same posts and come to exactly opposite conclusions on what has happened and what would happen in some circumstances.
I think JP would get crucified, suffer personal abuse and the mods wouldn’t stop it.
I do agree some of the criticism would be constructive but most wouldn’t.
I don’t think Mel was made welcome and I think she was driven out.
As I say, I’m not saying I’m right, just making the point of how we see things differently.
Out of interest was your mod hat on or off when you posted?- 2

. It is a great shame that JP doesn’t involve himself with this forum; would other members want that?
Absolutely. Sadly he’d be made to feel less welcome than Mel Holland was! -
Brundall doesn't have these vicious tides to be honest iv actually moved an elysian 27 before to day when I had head gasket failure with a mirror 10 equipped with a mercury 3.3hp 2 stroke and against the tide , it only really picks up around reedham , don't get me wrong the tidal effect is there bit in practice its not going to affect that boat /engine combination to the point of being dangerous or not capable of making progress , around burgh castle etc then I would want something a bit bigger but not round brundall .
That’s a fair point Ricardo.
I was thinking of the tides around Burgh Castle which I sometimes wouldn’t want to tackle in my day boat. -
My little day boat (a little bigger than the Gemini / Scorpio thing pictured but not much) has a 10hp outboard. It will do about 7mph max. Plenty for tides around Potter but maybe not enough for a strong southern tide?

Every definition I can find says Broads are lakes.

Ironically this is far from the worst

Ah that's better river properly filled...
Looks like Hickling on Sunday.
As long as you ignore the “boats under sail have the right of way” rule it’s no problem at all
I have to say, watching the Hunters boats go past is lovely. -
The only major fallout I’ve had on a boat was with a fisherman (keep reading before the flaming starts )
I was on the river Trent pulling a Ringo with a couple of teenagers on it at about 12mph or so. I had all permissions / licenses / insurance / qualifications.
About 200m ahead a boat was coming towards me on my side of the river. No problem, the river was wide, I went over to the left. So did the other boat. No problem, I came off the plane and went back to the right bank. Then I saw fishing lines in front of me. I went into reverse and the Ringo came up behind me (jetboat so no prop danger). Then the fisherman started shouting and swearing at me. That’s when I lost it officer
Was it my fault? Absolutely, at least in a big part. But it could have been avoided if I (or my spotter) had seen the camouflaged fisherman sitting between two bushes earlier. -
A similar situation has occurred on the Yare, where someone living on a moored boat and frustrated with speeding boats (one presumed both hire and private) has erected their own signage on the speed limit signs warning passing boats not to speed and that they are being filmed and would be reported.
I don’t they’re in any way similar situations.
If your speculation is correct on both counts one is trying to exclude people from an area they’ve got no right to exclude them from and the other is helping the authorities to enforce legitimate rules. -
Well the second half of the sentence does have a certain following.
Assuming B2P is right about the 99/1 split I think we have more than our fair share of the 1% here
