So in summary we don’t want anybody other than us boaters around and whatever the BA chooses will be wrong?

I think it’s ok to have one forward facing white light and one rear facing as well as the red and green ones.
That’s what I have with no issue with night vision -
You think thats what the market wants but its the yards who will tell you different!!
I think that’s a very fair point. If they can’t hire them out why would they build them?
Speculation is all well and good but the yards know exactly what’s popular and what sits in the yard for most of the year.
It would be interesting to see how sales are split too. -
For those who live locally, I am always happy to give them the experience of sailing. Otherwise, try hiring one of the boats available for hire through the website. Instruction can be given, and then just have a go.
If I can do it, anyone can.
If you live locally, message me; I’ll take you sailing.
That’s a very kind offer thank you.
I may well take you up on that.
Next time I get a few days down here I’ll give you a shout if that’s ok? I’m not sure when that will be, people are expecting me to do work. Very inconsiderate. -
.
For me there is nothing better than enjoying the peace of the Broads under sail with the engine switched off. I recommend people give it a try.
But where to start? -
John, 2 finished models, 1 for me and 1 for Charlie. time wise I think I can safely say 30 minutes a day average, and it will be 2 years building later this year.
Amazing job Grendel
The original came past me today, I reckon yours is an upgrade- 2

Fascinating project Grendel.
Are you tracking the hours you put into it? I know it’s not about that but I suspect it will be a scary number.
What are your plans for the finished model? -
I sailed once a long time ago.
I think I might try one of the Hunter’s two hour skippered trips to see if I’m tempted.
The article seems to be about getting ex sailers back rather than introducing new sailors.

Most boat owners who pay the BA toll are also tax payers, so they pay twice to use the river?
We (toll payers) can use the navigation AND get all the benefits non toll payers get can’t we? -
BA gets about half its funding from tax payers doesn’t it?
Aren’t anglers etc tax payers generally? -
Thats a good question, that I am unable to answer, as I did not develop the Apps, and dont have any apple devices, I know the Android app uses Tapatalk.
As far as I can see so does the iOS one.
Tapatalk is working fine here again now (which is why you’ll be thrilled to hear I’m back ) -
I saw that a couple of weeks ago.
For a few years now I’ve been at the top end of overweight and meaning to do something about it (and failing to do so).
But the BBC calculation says I’m average in the UK so we’re all good. Bring out the bacon- 2

Is there any difference between the NBN app and Tapatalk other than the branding?

It was from the little shop at Womack.Think sadly they don't do them any more I also have a polo.
The shop used to be run by the same people who had a printing / embroidery business.
The printing / embroidery business is now in Stalham I believe.
No idea if they’re still doing them though. -
I bought the ticket through my phone using an App. I paid for it using Apple Pay and verified the transaction with my finger print
Is this the dark ages?
Finger print? No facial recognition?
I vaguely remember that technology.

So the best sat nav? It's Google Maps.
Have to disagree there.
Waze is better. Based on Google maps and owned by Google but with better functionality.
Ironically Garmin and TomTom etc are now selling digital mapping to car manufacturers and Google and Apple. -

I think tech team will have raised a support ticket as they're a paying customer...
I used to sometimes find the end users via the forum were more use than support.

yes its the tapatalk end we are trying to sort out - we have raised it with them.
Don’t want to interfere but have you posted on their forum? I used to find that very helpful.

Quite a few people have mentioned moorings.
Do you prefer big multi boat moorings or would you rather have more smaller moorings? Maybe one or two boats only.

Tapatalk recognise me, offers to log in for me then ignores me.
Same for me.

Sorry. Looks like it didn’t entirely fix the problem. Tapatalk claimed neither of those posts had saved.
-
Tapatalk didn’t seem to like the update. It claimed my account wasn’t active (I always expect that to happen ).
A restart of Tapatalk fixed it for me. -
I have a camera watching my boat which informs me if it detects movement.
Footage is automatically saved to the cloud.- 1

Thanks Q
I’m going to take PastorsDayOff up on his kind offer and maybe do the Hunters thing too as a start.
By next year I’ll be a confirmed rag and stick sailor or hate all sailors
