I’ve forgotten the boat keys before now, luckily that was when the syndicate was still were managed by a company that had a local agent who lent us his keys.

Another MS syndicate owner recently owned up to forgetting the keys, fortunately they don’t have such a long journey from home to MS. In response, other members offered up the info that they actually store the boat keys in their car so that they can’t inadvertently forget them…that sounds like a very good idea!

We've got halfway to norfolk and realised we'd forgotten the keys before,  luckily there's always a door key stowed somewhere on most boats.....

Not saying where, ignition keys are another matter, they are normally stowed safely in the ignitions.....

It might not be broke, but it also isn't optimal.

Sorry I should made clear I was referring to the battery clamps in my last post, yes I would run the negative lead to the other end of the bank but wouldn't worry about changing all the clamps.

If it's any help I have a hydraulic crimper that could be borrowed but I'm not about this weekend.

No more videos to put Jean off even more than she already is!

Seriously Jean, it’s a doddle if you plan to go across when there are suitable tides and a forecast fir reasonable weather. Go for it!

But do watch out for the sea monsters........

  5. Hi Sean and Ben, do you have a wiring diagram? chances are a couple of well chosen switches will do the same job and just control a remote contactor near the thruster much the same as a windlass, my trip tab control died and cheapest option was £120, 2 mom-off-mom 2 pole switches did the job and including an etched plate to cover the original hole and house the new switches cost less than £20 and looked better.

  6. I hate to say it but ebay bearings would worry me, there's millions of cheap chinese bearings about all with fake packaging and substandard metals, I would go to a reputable bearing supplier (often on the local industrial estate) and specify SKF or similar, they will be standard sizes and possibly off the shelf, same with seals.

I've seen bearings you can put in a vice and bend both races and balls, they should shatter.

    3. PORT OF GREAT YARMOUTH - HAVEN BRIDGE LIFT BOOKINGS - owing to a health and safety concern raised by Great Yarmouth Port to Norfolk County Council, Great Yarmouth Port are unable to accept the responsibility and risk related to pedestrians and vehicles experienced during the immediate period prior to the lifting of the Haven Bridge for navigational purposes. We have proposed an interim solution to Norfolk County Council, however this has not been progressed by them. Therefore, Great Yarmouth Port are currently unable to accept bookings for Haven Bridge Lifts for Navigational purposes, and we advise you that any correspondence on this matter be passed to Norfolk County Council who are the owners and responsible party for the overall safety of Haven Bridge. This restriction does not impact any vessels that are able to pass safely under the bridge, who should continue to operate in the normal manner with communication with LPS.

  8. Forum is still down and has been for some time now, I've no idea about Richard as I have never met him as far as I know.

As with all forums the wrong mods can cause a lot of problems, luckily we get away easy here. (insert brown nose emoji here)
