As the creep of refurbishment spread down the Wensum it was only a matter of time before the factory became designer flats, apartments and bedsits you couldn't even swing a cat in. Shall miss the smell of freshly milled mint as you cruise under Trowse bridge.

How long before Adnams gets snapped up? Didn't Woodfordes sell out recently?

Can you test a boat with no toll at a brokers?
I know some yards have trade plates but do they all?
Sent from my iPhone using TapatalkIs this really any different to car dealerships who use trade plates for road tests etc. I guess that once a boat is on land then the adjacent waters issue doesn't apply and therefore why should it be tolled, for sale or not. Once in the water then the waters are muddied. Do the trade plates cover a boat for sitting in the water for sale? What happens if the owners come up and want to use it before it is sold? Then surely it needs to be tolled, but if the owners sign a contract that the boat is for sale and will not be used by them, then would the trade plates be enough to cover the fact it is in adjacent waters untolled? Do trade plates only cover the vessel being trialled at that particular time and therefore would it need to be lifted out again if it is not tolled?

Although the toll is only going up by 3% this year, it has to be remembered what effect the compounded high increase from last year has on the toll you will pay this year and each year in the future!!!

I asked the question as have often thought a house boat in a similar place would be lovely. My practical head on , the first thing I would want to know was what happens to sewage. As you say if we all used phosphate free washing up liquid , not sure if they do shower gels or shampoo it would help.
They do and the following web site probably has more info than the average person needs, but if anyone is serious about seeking out environmentally friendly products for use on boats, then its a good place to start.

I understand that a number of canal boats use them and those are hardly flush with excess room. Whilst I've been aboard the barge at the WRC I haven't sampled the joys of its bog but we do have a tropical garden nearby that has one and I have used that, perched up in the air, seemingly needing a degree of depth which maybe wouldn't be available on most Broads boats. Bucket & Chuck It, far easier!
I visited The Rockies in Canada this year and all the toilets in the National Parks were of a very similar nature to the one you describe in the tropical garden. I'm guessing that due to the remote location of many of the facilities there is little other option. Most of the ones in Canada had no running water, a peg board with about 12 toilet rolls on it and a few bottles of hand sanitizer and that was it.

There is a large barge that came up from Maldon, moored at the WRC. It has no engine and therefore unable to move, but I understand that it has a fully composting toilet. Would imagine that it is far easier to fit in the larger barges.

Does anyone know if the vessel has been recovered yet? Not an easy place to recover a vessel I would think!

An interesting stretch of the coast along there. I made a visit to Shotley Gate during the Summer and sat there watching the ferry coming and going, then took the drive along to The Butt and Oyster, only to get rained in for a while. Been rained in, in worse pubs though.

Was quite surprised to visit Norwich this year and see that the Colemans shop was closed in the old Victorian arcade opposite the market. Perhaps the writing was on the wall then?
